To import a car to Thailand from outside the South East Trading area the import duty on a car is 212% of the world book value (Where they get this value from I dont know) plus 7% VAT plus transport charges plus a few back handers to actually get the vehicle moved from its parking spot on the docks. All in all not a very good chance of getting the car in for less than three times its value in tax and gifts An alternative it to import the car into Mayamar and then drive it into Thailand on a visit visa but it has to do a visa run every three months I believe, this is a method I have only read about some place

They rely on the Bhuda amulets I always thought. Also worth rmembering that the maximum fine that can be imposed by the police is 200baht NOT 2,000 that some will ask for.

Chip it's just me I eat breakfast and that's about it for the day, like today I had me breakfast at the Ritz at 9am and I am now back in my village after a five hour drive and still not hungry but I think the wife will do me a bit of steak with a baked spud for supper - I love this Thai food. Seriously though it is what ever suits I like a BIG feed in a morning so the rest of the day I dont have to bother with food just a snack very often.
-
Sorry but the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired like hunger, a bit of bacon, a hot dog sausage, a bit of ham, and an egg sorry but not a good English breakfast. the other food inc thai is good and cheap

I can not comment on EDGE but I presume that the blue tooth connection would be very similar to infared which is made by going into the modems in control pannel and installing a blue tooth modem. Have the blue tooth on your phone active at the time and go through the wizard which is the easiest. If you dont use the wizard you have to install a bluetooth port and an additional com port plus alter a lot of configuration of the port. It does take some fiddling about with and after you have finished if you use a dialup connection of your phone(modem) you get a 14kbs speed that is all, make sure you have plenty of credit on your phone because it uses it quite quick unlkess you have one of the deals sorted on your phone like 5baht first minute and then .25baht after that, the normal calling price is about 4baht per minute. (Dtac sim cards)

For an address I have used a freindly bar owner who rents flats out, he has allowed me to use his address even if not staying there. So if you drink regularly any place just ask and pick the post up from there or have them forward the post.

Flying from England one of the best collection places for point to get a free flight is KLM have a look at their web site it should explain most things that you ask. But briefly each trip you do to BKK is worth about 5,000 miles(points) there and 5,000 miles back, once you have collected I think it's 60,000 you can exchange them for a return flight and you only pay the taxes (about £80 return) so for each light you make you can say one is six is free as even on the free flight you get points. This is worked on economy flights so when looking at the price of flights I always take into account the discount I am getting by flying KLM as opposed to saving say £50 on another airline cheaper flight. When booking with KLM it is always worth booking well in advance as they give some very good prices for advance bookings also they have what they call action fares which are the short notice fares also good value.

and what is the result in driving too fast in Thailand ? I picked this up yesterday 200baht for 165kmph another "get there quick toll" just remember 28 Thai fines = one UK speeding fine and still get to keep your license

Living in Thailand Skype is brilliant for keeping in touch with other around the world. Computer to computer the Skype used on ADSL or above and a computer operating on XP you use a camera as well as voice over internet and the delay factor is shorter than a normal telephone call. My wife uses it to speak often with her friends that are abroad and even with the Thai habit of speaking and listening at the same time Skype keeps up with the conversation. The most we have had on one conversation is eight people and that was a mixture of Thai and English all taking together it was quite interesting to say the least, more like talking in a pub with a group of friends. Regarding phoning land lines all of our friends have got a computer so it is usually a SMS to tell them to switch on the computer and Skype

Yep a nice hotel owned by same people that own the Royal palace, next door. If you dont want breakfast which is not great it's ok but canteen style cooking tell them that you dont want breakfast and the price is reduced by 90baht a night. A great English breakfast is to be had at the Ritz 100yards down Soi Yamoto from Second Road its about a 2 minute walk from the Towers, (turn right on second road and then second left Soi Yamoto) Shamrock Bar on Pattayaland 2 is also OK for breakfast.

Looks like that site has been removed now - not too suprised

I can only say what I hear but regarding no Thai word ending in "R" in the written language I can understand that- but- I dont know it very much sounds as if some words do when spoken, translate for instance mother, bad, here, dog, fish, bullshitter, son of bitch, to name a few (no offence intended on the last two by the way just put as examples -jin jin) I am not that good at the Thai language (or English for that matter) but like to lean a bit every now and again any bits always help PS I shoud have said "pom chop pet, aroy"
