  1. Hi folks, I'm getting the Bell Bus from Swampy to Patts, arrive at 13.10 next week and hopefully getting 14.00 bus that I have booked, As you can see, time will be tight, can anyone remind me where to get it please? Not been onit for a while. Seem to remember going down escalator one level and it is by a cafe. But any simple directions to save me time will do. Chok Di.
  2. Yes, I think they do, a great experience to watch Fawlty, hope out transalantic cousins like it as much. Food very good and cheap, I go there most days.
  3. Cheapest was 350 Tarom ( chatkeow are you MG from GY? who travelled with me), most was £3200 with BA - quite superb but still a bit expensive. Loved all that English ale.
  4. Top grub, no rush, no bar girls bothering you, and you get to watch the best TV comedy of ALL time. Only Fools, probably doesn't mean much to anyone outside England though.
  5. Bell bus for me too, always semed to get a speed maniac in a taxi.
  6. Hi Joe, thanks, does 'paasa' mean teacher? The reason for all this is my mate, who is a Latin teacher, is going to Thailand and wants to tell the girls what he does for a living.
  7. Hi folks, does anyone know what 'Latin teacher' would be in Thai? I've looked on lots of translation sites but no joy so far. Cheers,
  8. Thanks guys, at these sorts of prices its almost worth bringing stuff out just to be altered, even if you don't need them whilst on holiday.
  9. Hi folks, I have a pair of Next cargo trousers ( pants to you in the US), whihh I will be bringing to LOS, they are new but too long, by 1 inch, should be a routine and simple alteration just to alter them. Costs a fortune in UK. Thought I would ask one of these persons who you see in the vicinity of the Buakow market, ( road leading to the beach, don't have map) set up on the pavement with a sewing machine to take them up. What do you reckon I would have to pay? 100 or so baht? Or could take it of the indian taylors, but might get scammed.
  10. There are a lot of wealthy russians in Pattaya, a few years ago it seemed that they were taking over the place. Doews anyone remember Red House bar on Soi Chayappoon, whole building and inside were painted red. great place to go, run by a huge russian guy built like a stone pyramid. About the same place where Canterbury Tales is now.
  11. Hi folks, sorry to repeat myself, but my trip in June is not on now due to work pressure. The way things are going with the economy, work has to take preference to holidays. In the past I would have just booked it and gone. However, my boss will give me the last week in June, first week in July. All the reports I read say 'hot and rainy' but my Thai friend says ' rain every day,but only for short time, all in one go.' Can anyone give me information about the weather at this time please?
  12. Yes, weather fantastic in UK now, has been for a few weeks, just talking about my general state of happiness, feeling a bit down as was last in Patts last October. But June looks a good month to go, so off I will go. have always been on October, or January/Feb in past and only had a few experiences of humid weather and storms, but what the heck - any time in Pattaya is better than being in UK.
  13. Hi folks,UK is not too appealing right now so have booked to be coming over at the beginning of June, I have never been at this time of the year, guess it will be hot/humid/rainy, am I right? And is it low season ie not too many tourists and lots of bargains to be had? Cheers in anticipation of some replies, from my gaff in Hogshorpe, Lincs
  14. I bring my own breakfast cereal/muesli and eat in the room, so that's one expense saved, apart from milk. Have lunch as main meal of the day, at wherever takes my fancy, such as Mali resturant, Soi 11, or somehwere similar. Sizzler in Royal Garden Plaza is good too. That does for the day, perhaps something off a food cart and some fruit. All in all I eat for about 300baht a day
  15. I can live well for three days on 10,000 baht, but each to his own, in you go all the time down WS and drink in the go gos a lot, and not a happy hour, the money will soon get spent
  16. Yes, it looks too good, but at £28 for 14 nights (about 1,500 baht) I'm tempted to book and pay for it online and take a chance.
  17. Hi folks, on Late rooms.com in the UK, you can book rooms in Pattaya, and everytime I look the cheapest is Joe Palace, 245 33 Moo 12 Jomtien Beach Soy 18, followed by the Sawasdee chain at about £11 per night. But this Joe Place is only £2.01 per night! I looked for 14 nights in May. Thats about 90 baht. per night. King size bed, maid service, but no mention of shower/wc in room though. Has anyone stayed there? the website and pictures make it look 4*, methinks too good to be true.
  18. Right, for a first timer, try the sticky rice and the frankfurter type sausage, or the processed fish balls on skewer, they are easy to detect if they are off, unlike chicken or pork where you don't know how old the meat is or if its been left out for long. Then move on up to the other meats. If you want to be absolutley safe and are very cautious, start off with the sticky rice only, it comes in a small slice like package about as big as half a slice of bread, looks very small but it takes ages to eat as the rice is compacted. They will brown it off for you on the charcoal and wrap it
  19. Hi Folks, thought I'd start a thread to make a list of toilets where you don't have to go and buy a drink, or pay 5 baht, in Pattaya. I don't mind the 5 baht, but often these bar complexes are only oep in the evening, what if you want to go at 9 in the morning? So far: Royal Plaza Big C complex N Pattaya Mike Shopping some of these don't open until later in the morning either. Virtually impossible to sneak into a bar or hotel lobby and go for free
  20. If you want to know where I go in Pattaya, the only public type toilets that I know are in the Royal Plaza, Mike Shopping, and at Big C complex in N Pattaya, but if anyone knows anwhere else, perhaps we ought to start a thread.
  21. Mate of mine did the same, only married her out there, she wasn't a bar girl but worked in hotel bar/catering, got visa, girl got over here to UK she, met up wth some Thai ladies she met in the street on the second day she came here, and went out the same evening with them, moved in to their house and my mate never sees her. Now she's into drugs and drink in a bad way, he's stuck with her, all the cost and worry and nothing in return.
  22. Thanks, all those who replied. I don't mind the heat, and if its 'low' season even better.
  23. Hi folks, got a chance to go from 7 May until about 25th May, does anyone know what the weather is like then, and is it busy in Pattaya then? Cheers, Rovers 'til I die
