Pictures from around Pattaya

Well, get TABBING then mate :) -
Best I can come up with Firth is this: https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-heathrow-fire-suppression-s/false-claim-fire-suppression-system-triggered-by-disgruntled-employee-idUSKBN22J30S It was disputed anecdotally from a friend in the (oil supply) industry
-
Having done some research, this is a genuine function of Fire suppressant gear which was extinguishing a detected fault on the 777 in question, thus I stand corrected on the "Engineer" point.

Thanks Brown1950, I see EVA are still running a LHR-TPE service as well. Hopefully in time Thai will reinstate the other service.

This is unfortunate... https://samchui.com/2020/05/04/forming-incident-in-british-airways-hangar/ The rumour is that it may have been a deliberate action by a disgruntled engineer who had lost his job. not 100% sure about that though but all the same, that's going to be a big clean up.

Anyway, time to get back on topic. I had a bad day yesterday , so flying away to somewhere sunny with good food and cheap beer would have really been the tonic. There will be changes in the airline industry for sure, but I think that there will still be competition, and over time fleets will resume to expand, update as the demand increases. They are not daft, flight costs might well increase, but holidaymakers will still need to fly, and pricing them out of the market would be bad business.

Well at this moment in time I should have been sat in 22k Premium Economy on BR68 ex LHR to BKK somewhere over the Balkans, having eaten my meal served 2hrs into the flight, taken a Melatonin , sat back in full recline ready for my 2 week battery recharge in Thailand, then onto the RP and back to the UK via another week in Thailand. Instead, due to some human filth chinese cunts, I have had to refund my flight at a cost to myself, cancel my trip and hope that my employer will grant me another holiday in the future. I mean it when I say that I hope we go tactical nuclear on China some

Warren Buffett dumps entire airline holdings
Butch replied to Rawhide2's topic in Airline Discussion
Oooof That's going to hurt in the morning. He's probably taken a bit of a hit on his airline holdings as well. -
I know, it sounds and looks like the criteria were set very high, and Airbus should have been grateful for the chance. Lol. Not unlike making spurious claims about how great it would be to be in partnership with such a high profile operator, when in reality the operator is floundering financially, yet manages to keep a facade up which some people actually believe, thus attracting investment. On this occasion, however, the investment was not forthcoming once the "investor" realised they would probably be in for an undisclosed amount of cash which they won't ever see again. Call me a c

Anyone would think they're blaming farangs for the outbreak. As always, very entertaining Monkeyman.

That's good news. Just over a month for a refund isn't too shabby.
-
Yep, thanks Brown1950 for the info. July is a long way off though, I expect they have a team standing by to re arrange the schedule is lockdown is lifted sooner?. another problem is getting all those mis placed Aircraft back into their service routes. Looks like a bloody nightmare.
-
I understand it has been mentioned before, the National Carriers part financed by their Govt I think will possibly survive this but with casualties, however the privateers will be on first to hit the wall. However, with some EU Countries relaxing lockdown rules, hopefully lifting of some travel restrictions is a matter of weeks in some cases.

Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs
Butch replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yep, that's a shocking insight into how bad it is. Good find Rawhide. -
Big "Cheers" for Ozark. Mr and the Mrs about to binge watch S01 and S02 ion the strength of the first Ep! :)

Although their CS sucks, the refund process is actually halfway efficient. Myself and Bazle as you can see both had our refunds in good time. 4th June is still a ways off, might be worth hanging on until around mid to late May, as things might have a semblance of normality by then.

https://onemileatatime.com/air-france-a330-shooting/ A rather odd occurance, the story seems to be that it wasn't deliberately targeted, but the result of 2 Policemen / border / Security guys having an drunken argument and one of them discharging a weapon, hitting the plane. Bit of an annoyance if that's your repatriation flight home I guess, but bloody hell, Welcome to Africa!.

Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs
Butch replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
great pics FBWU. I read in the pattaya mail that they have started water rationing in some areas. Given the current situation, pardon my poor attempt at humour when I say, "it never rains, but it pours". -
Good news, excellent! It's a relief when it comes through. I'm taking the hit on the cancellation charge (did they sting you for that?) but in the whole scheme of things, it is what it is so I can't complain as I knew the T&C's before I purchased the ticket. Fair play to EVA for getting it refunded in a relatively short time, but to me it doesn't really make up for the shocking Customer service sadly.

That is absolutely shocking FBWU, once it actually gets visualised by a comparison like that it really does show how bad things are. I looked at the background of your initial pic of the two guy, in the comparison pic it's mostly now dry land, how much has it dropped would you say, 20 foot or more?. Incredible. One question, in the first pic, it looks as if below where your mates are standing is an open "door", in the background it appears that the water had risen above the level of the glass, am I right?. -
For October dates that is expensive, but given the current situation I would expect that once travel bans and restrictions are lifted, prices will change, but perhaps not in our favour. For my money, I'd be concerned that the Airlines continue to run a limited timetable on certain routes to keep the planes full and also therefore keep prices high due to demand.
-
EVA won't credit my miles back I think, I can't really decipher the T&C's, but I only used a few thousand miles to defer the cost by £50 or so. The refund was for the total amount I paid minus the cancellation fee. I also paid to pre book my seat, I'm getting that refunded apparently but it was in a separate email.
-
I'm finding myself agreeing with you. Thai for me from now on. I'm even considering BA over EVA at the moment. I just had my refund from them but trying to call the UK office is impossible, they don't provide an email address so it is down to applying online for the refund and hoping it gets done. Terrible. Shame they don't have a PE but I'd rather fly econ on a reliable airline to be honest. Are you a member of the FF? if so how do you find it?.

Mine went back to my debit card, a billing cycle for a CC is between 20 and 45 days, but in my email it also said the payment date is 2 months from date of issue (which was the 1st April as well). It might be that you need to give it 24 hours for it to appear on a CC statement. If it has been refunded, then it might be currently "in the system" , so it has been refunded but not "registered" per se. I had this with a partial parking refund to my CC last week.
