  1. Thanks FBWU, Pattaya looks eerie being so quiet. Keep safe mate.
  2. Bazle, My refund came through today, it was the cost minus the £165 cancellation fee, paid into my account. I applied the same day you did. hopefully yours will come through soon as well mate.
  3. Actually scrub that. 4 episodes in and it has turned into a modern day PC virtue signalling wank fest. We have an illegal immigrant who turns out to be virtuous and a hero, despite the middle class white woman leaving him for dead in the first ep. We have strong female lead characters, a stereotypical male sex offender / rapist and weak white males in their roles. We also have a scene where highly trained Soldiers can't kill an alien, but a woman picking up an assault rifle for the first time, can. Utter bollocks and don't waste your time. I was actually cheering for the martian
  4. There is a massive backlog. Imagine every pax these Airlines carry in the UK alone from around 1oth March (or earlier depending upon their destination) applying for a refund, it's going to run into the tens of thousands. EVA for example, one 777 outward a day, that's 300+ pax a day who may have cancelled their trips from early March through to say, the middle of May, and my trip was scheduled for May as well, so I imagine it is a bit of a headache.
  5. No worries mate. I'll let you know when mine is refunded, with any luck they should be around the same time. I'm just fucked off that EVA didn't have an email address anywhere on their site, and the London office wouldn't answer their phones, so I had to do a bit of hunting around to get any kind of response (the feedback form goes direct to CS in Taiwan)
  6. I processed mine on the same day! They told me in an email yesterday that it will take between 4 weeks for the money to be refunded due to high volumes of demand. If you use this form linked below (feedback form) and in the box at the bottom, copy / paste your refund details with the reference number etc which you would have got by email when you applied, they'll tell you how it's going: Here's my reply: "Please kindly note that we have received your refund application for electronic ticket number 69524xxxxxx85 and have already started the refund process. Please kindly
  7. Problem is Bullfrog is that it seems to be wiping out more blokes than women. 71% in Italy male to female mortality and possibly double in Spain... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/26/men-are-much-more-likely-to-die-from-coronavirus-but-why
  8. Fox's new contemporary take on War of the Worlds is quite good. Not exactly fast paced initially but there are some tense scenes and the acting is pretty good as well and some decent camera work. Couple of characters developing nicely. Be warned, I have found myself getting a bit frustrated at the apparent lack of common sense during an alien invasion...:)
  9. Some very interesting points here. I'm going to sound self contradictory in this post, but what I want to do is offer both sides of a discussion we had today. In response, I can see the point regarding expecting too much from the Airlines given current events, but as bullfrog points out, they perhaps have a substandard system during normal service which goes to absolute shit when hit with a crisis. Crisis management is what it is all about, and given that the warning signs were there the moment China and Italy went into lockdown, they should have mobilised their Emergency plans and made p
  10. Seems like it is across the board then. I've been reading flyertalk and Trip advisor, most airlines are an absolute shower of shit in times of crisis, and many are just an absolute shower of shit anyway. Cathay has always been second to none for CS, which is why we fly them all the time. We opted for direct PAL this year for a change and also because we nearly missed our HKG-LHR flight last year due to a heavy rainstorm in MNL. Cathay were absolute mustard during the volcanic ash issues , because we had booked a codeshare Cathay/ BA flight, they helped us out, the Duty manager took us int
  11. EVA are awful. no method of contact, phones permanently engaged, no email address on the website and the only way to get a refund is via an online portal. Shocking CS in a time of crisis. Edit in, email found for EVA, for all the good it will do; feedback@evaair.com Thai, they have email addresses, but never answer them, no acknowledgement either. Same goes for the phones, always engaged. Terrible. BA Again, phones always engaged, but at least an email acknowledgment. during the volcanic ash disaster several years ago, BA (well, Cathay actually) were very good i
  12. As I said before, that rebar gives me the shits big time. I think it is because when I was at primary school we had to watch these "gore fest" "educational govt safety videos - building sites bite" has a lot to answer for!
  13. Westworld 3 has just started on Sky Atlantic. I re-watched the final episode of Series 2. Now I want to see the whole thing over again!
  14. I understand that Cargo will still be allowed, so there will be a lot of flights showing at night. I've been at work today and missed the news, was there any announcement re Airports or is it coming on Friday (21st)?
  15. Good old Oman Aviation. Come a long way since 1976 when I flew on them. The state ones will be fine as you say, but I would possibly avoid buying shares in or future tickets on some of the Independant ones...
  16. If you fancy buying shares in an airline that is essentially run by a bunch of cunts (BA) then be my guest. I read somewhere (maybe here) that by May, 80% of Airlines will be bankrupt if this horsepucky continues on.
  17. Probably zero. countered by the fact everyone staying at home will make a bigger demand on power stations, people will use less public transport therefore their cars instead so while the skies over my house are relatively quiet at the moment I (We live under a flightpath), I think the blessings are relatively minimal. One positive might be less demand for fuel, causing a price drop and maybe the UK govt will try to add stimulus by reducing or changing APD to lower fares and encourage travel once it is all over and done with. At least Greta will be happy, she can ride around in the fr
  18. Source: https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/cv19-asia/cv19-thailand/pattaya-to-close-all-entertainment-venues I am chatting to a friend on "line" who owns an establishment, and he tells me that the consensus is that it will be for longer. This is just for starters.
  19. I think the reason is 2 fold Bullfrog, Thai are in desperate financial difficulties at the moment and as the list shows, have cancelled swathes of flights and grounded planes. May / June is the low point before school hols in July / Aug as well, plus the whole thing is exacerbated by the current situation. There will be some good deals floating around for the time you wish to go, hopefully!
  20. TG916 and TG917 are cancelled between 04 May and 30 June https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/news/news_announcement/news_detail/coronavirus.page
  21. I read today (can't give a source, my apologies) that at current rates, 80% of Airlines will be bankrupt by the end of April. I expect that National or state sponsored Carriers will be ok, but Thai are in financial trouble anyway, so this will decimate them further. Also I was listening to BBC Radio 2 just now, they were talking about Spain and spoke of a guy who was fired from his job the minute the Govt restrictions came out. He has no way of paying his rent, buying food or travelling. I really felt bad for the guy , but as you correctly say, he is not alone.
  22. They are absolute wankers. They also cancelled mine, so I rebooked with Thai. They still run 2 planes a day and the fares while not cheap, are reasonable. check this out, you're not alone https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.evaair.com They don't answer their phones, and when you do get a ring it cuts off during the disclaimer message. Here's a couple of email addresses I had after I put in a compliant a couple of years ago, whether they work or not is anyone's guess as I've tried them today but to no avail. I feel like jumping on a train, going to the Office in Euston Rd g
  23. The International airlines are currently putting massive pressure on Govts not to ban flights I read today. The situation is fluid as we all know, hopefully transiting will still be ok, but the next 2 weeks will be crucial wrt International travel. Also, given how well Thai Airlines are doing at the moment, I think banning flights or locking down BKK is not going to be a wise decision.
  24. you mean, "official activities during and in relation to songkran promoted by city Hall" have been cancelled. The Wan Lai festival is largely regarded as being the main Songkran festival and celebration, it is an official activity, and has been cancelled , hence the correct statement, "songkran is cancelled". People can still chuck water at each other and celebrate, but as far as City hall are concerned, the official celebration is off. Simple enough to understand.
  25. Seem to be having some stability in Sterling, now Brexit and the election are over with. Stockmarket is taking a real kicking though, not sure if that has any effect. £ to peso holding at 65 according to Kabayan Remit. thanks for the update Jacko.
