Interesting Stats from CAA for Jan 2012 compared to Jan 2011 ;- Dubai 59.900 + 16% Abu Dhabi 21,250 + 25% Doha 26,520 + 77% Singapore 9600 + 21% So what do these stats tell us for the future ? Emirates - A380 has been leaving with average 95% loads. EK 022 - expect A330 to be replaced with B777-300ER later this year. EK 020 - loads have been over 95% so expect A380 to replace B777-300ER later this year, Qatar - Expect double daily to return Oct - with the introduction of B787

From July 19, 2011, Lion Air has had to ground 13 planes due to sanction caused by bad on-time performance (OTP) until Lion Air can fulfill at least 80 percent of OTP. The transportation ministry recorded that Lion Air's OTP of 66.45 percent was the worst out of six airlines in an assessment conducted from January to April 2011 at 24 airports nationwide.[6][7] In January 2012, the Transportation Ministry says that it has sanctioned Lion Air because some of its pilots and crew members were found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine in recent months. Well at least none of these planes wil be flying to Europe as they are banned from European Airspace. Also understand many of their planes are 'grounded' because some of the flight crew's found to have taken drugs !! Don't think i will be flying with Lion Air soon ! -
Soon to be announced Qatar will operate from September 2012 - B787 Dreamliner Manchester -Doha route.

Interesting to see Qatar start high density 777-400ER Doha -Bangkok from 25th March with 24 J AND 356 Y. Hopefully should still remain 3-3-3 layout in Y.

Air Asia X have just announced the cancellation of all flights ex Gatwick as from 1st April 2012.

Qatar will perhaps start using the 787 later this year on the Manchester-Doha route. Likewise Etihad on the Dublin-Abu Dhabi route in 2013.

Rumour doing the rounds in the airline industry is that Air Asia X will stop all European flights in Feb 2012 and that includes Gatwick ! Announcement shortly.

Emirates will replace present morning flight EK21/22 from A330 to B777-300 2 class w.e.f 1.6.12 Further upgrade on 1.9.12 to B777-300ER 3 class with suites. So all three daily flights will have 1st Class. Expect another A380 to be introduced on the evening flight early 2013. Lets see how Qatar and Etihad respond?

Looks like the higher yields are on the Sydney-Bangkok route as the B747 are now planned for this route in exchange for the A340 London-Bangkok covering the period 16/1 - 24/3.

Yes indeed - due for completion next month. Would appear Thai think they can better utilise their 747's on other routes with higher yields.

Thai Airways have announced Heathrow-Bangkok service for period 16/1-24/3 will have the A340-600 replacing the B747-400.

Latest news from Manchester Airport 'rumour mill' is :- Air Asia X will not start in 2012 - instead will increase capacity from Gatwick Etihad - will be 3 x daily - Oct/Nov 2012 Incl 1st class seats. Aeroflot - to commence flights to Moscow (with onward connections to Bangkok) June 2012. Emirates early morning departure will change from A330 to B777-300ER - Oct 2012.

Copy of recent post on PPRUNE Kingfisher are struggling to pay huge fuel debts and airport fees - most aircraft owners and banks are owed rent payments dating back several months. Some aircraft are grounded or out of service and there are some repossessions imminent. Of course KF have been through all this but this time there seems to be some determination not to allow KF to continue to rob Peter to pay Paul and use delaying tactics with creditors to manage cashflow.
