Ahhhhhh in anticipation of your photos i thought i might see why Emirates staff would upgrade a non ' status' FF passenger into First class . Shame no photo's of you at the most photographed part of the Emirates A380 (ie) The Bar. With 76 Business seats and on average 50% of these seats taken by 'Gold/Silver' members it beggers belief that Emirates would upgrade a non status passenger to First class. But hey its only an internet site so lets treat it for what it is 'just a 'fantasy'

Are you a member of the Emirates FF programme ? If so when booking what 'status' did you hold ? Can you also confirm notification of upgrade to 1st Class was from the Emirates lounge and not at check in or at the gate ? I ask the questions because 'not doubting your blagged upgrade to 1st ' but even 'Gold' elite class have complained about the lack of upgrades on the afternoon EK018 flight from Manchester.

MAN-BKK would be viable for the likes of THAI if punters would pay 700-800GBP for economy . And you know what the answer is !

MAN-BKK is a low yield route(revenues) and with Emirates/Etihad/Qatar competition no chance of a direct route. Yes Thai have looked at this many times over the last 10 years and have come to the conclusion - If we struggle on one of the blue ribbon routes LHR-BKK how the hell can we make money ex Manchester. To the best of my knowledge Manchester has never had a schedule airline operate direct to Bangkok - Charter Airline perhaps on an Ad-Hoc basis.

Understand Thai Airways will change back to B747 for the period April - Nov A340 will be transferred to the Rome route.

Please tell me more how you 'blagged' an upgrade with Emirates ex Manchester on the afternoon A380 flight to Dubai ?

Looks like the cause of the fire could be associated with Lithium Batteries(first application in a civil airliner) To see what can happen when these batteries explode see fatal crash in Sept 2010 of B747F in Dubai. Good thing the B787 was not flying at the outbreak of the fire !

Yes they do have a schedule and was in Hua Hin last week when i saw one of their planes depart for BKK however as i said earlier are they not a separate Company and have no connection with Thai Airways ?

Was under the impression Thai Regional Airlines is a 'charter airline' with a separate shareholding to Thai Airways. Please corect me if i am wrong.

UPDATE Delivery delayed by 24hrs. Now ex Toulouse 1600hrs 28th Sept with arrival BKK 0810 on 29th Sept.

Understand 27th Sept is the delivery date.

Understand Thai Airways have brought forward the starting date fo using this aircraft on the Hong Kong - Bangkok route from 28th Oct to 6th Oct. Same with Bangkok-Singapore route.

Singapore Airlines Plans Daily Munich / Manchester Service in W12 Update at 0820GMT 13AUG12 As per 13AUG12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Singapore Airlines from 28OCT12 is once again operating Singapore – Munich - Manchester service on daily basis. As i see you live near Heathrow i would also suggest Emirates who from 10th Dec will operate 5 x A380 daily flights Heathrow-Dubai.

Rumour doing the rounds at Manchester Airport is that Singapore Airlines will drop the Manchester/Munich sector and announce a return to direct flights Manchester-Singapore with frequency 6 x weekly. New service to commence Oct12.

Soon to be announced by Qatar Airways :_ Manchester - Doha return to double daily in March 2013. Edinburgh - Doha 4 weekly B787 Birmingham - Doha daily B787 Gatwick - Doha daily A330 Dates to be announced.
