It really depends upon your budget. The Marriott is great but it will knock you back Bt3/4000 or so. The Residence Garden is good but the food sucks and the location gets to be irritating.

Also, where do you prowl ? No good having an hotel in Soi 2 if you spend all your time in Walking Street.

A suite at the Hard Rock is nice but the daily Bt6000++ is not !!!

Many seen to stay in the Flippers or Eastity regularly at around Bt750 or so.

my recommendation is still the same,

book a room for 1-2 nights and then when you get there take your list of 5-6 places you've reseached from the hotel section and spend a morning going and looking at the places and see what they got and what you like.

there is no shortage of rooms in pattaya, you will be able to get lodging.

good luck

It seems that people tend to like the new rooms and location at the Inn House (Soi 13), the Sunshine hotel (Soi 8), or the Lek hotel (Corner of Soi 13 and 2nd Rd.)

If money was no object, then the location of the Pattaya Marriott, or the Hard Rock hotel would probably be the choice. I would probably pick the Marriott. Money being no object - that is.

Here is a posting from a fellow boardie, 990Baht per night, nice pool I don't know much about the food but the Sportsmans Bar is right next door where you can get a great feed and get your laundry done. Guest friendly good staff and it's about half way between Walking st and Soi's 7 & 8.

Bigmike.

Hello Rob,

Just backing up what what Big Mike said. I was in the Sandy Springs just over a week ago. I got a 30 hour Loxinfo package for around 350 baht from the front desk. It came with all instructions on how to set it up. Dont forget to put in the 9, to get an outside line. They charged 8 baht per call but there was no time limits. I had a few dropouts but it was not too bad. The package is good for 12 months.

I would take a 4-5 metre phone cable as the phone outlet is on the opposite side of the room to the rooms desk.

The hotel rooms are good and the location is hard to beat.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

My recomendation - the Welcome Plaza Hotel

Location - 2nd Road at Pattayaland 2. Perfect location - close to the bars and right on the main baht bus route. And off the road enough to be quiet at night (stay at the Penthouse if you need to be in the middle of the bars).

Value - 650B a night. Great staff. Large pool. Clean rooms with A/C.

Great staff - always fixed a problem if I had one. The doorman would more often than not come to attention and snap me a salute when I entered. Now I'm not military, but I really liked this (I think it showed respect for the guests)

Food - there is room service and a cafe, but nothing special. I usually ate elsewhere.

The hotel is not brand new like the Dynasty or Sandy Spring and the rooms show it. But the location and other amenities combined with the low rate make the WP my #1 place to stay for a medium length stay (1-4 weeks). There are better hotels for more $$, but nowhere else do you get more for your baht. Choose the Marriott if price is not a factor.

I have been there each of my last 10 trips over the past 4 years. A nice bonus is that the 650B rate hasn't changed at all over that time (although they add 100 B for Dec. and Jan).

84 days.......

I stayed at Residence Garden last time and really liked it a lot. Two pools, guest friendly. Food was only so so. It can be a hassle getting back and forth to the action but not bad. The important thing to me is that they are suites so when my TG of the day is sleeping in I can go out into the other room and watch tv or read. Does anyone know of any other places, near the action that have nice suites with seperate rooms. The price of the RG is not bad at 1350 baht. Thanks for any help. :D

I was just checking out the Sabai Lodge web site for reservations, and I noticed that they require a credit card number and a deposit on the card equal to the first two nights charge. Has anyone booked at Sabai Lodge without giving the required credit card info, except for walk-ins. Thanks.
