was not able to post in the hotle despite me entering my correct login and passcode. Anyway do not stay at the apex , here are all the bad things that happened:

1st they want deposits on the mini bar and room safe key

1 day i forgot my room safe key in the room and well the maid didnt steal stuff in my safe but there really wasnt much in it anyway except for passport and other stuff but she took it back to reception and then reception would not refund my 1500 baht deposit saying that i lost it andi had to pay another 1500 to get another key(that was a scam)

2. when i was checking out they tried to pad the bill by another 2000 baht luckily i kept track of things and i argue with them and they adjusted the outstanding balanc.

3. They pad your phone bill and mini bar bill

4. Some rooms have bed bugs , the one i had had them and i had to change these bugs bite you and give you little red marks and when you try to sleep they make you itchy all over.

5. the room i had had some noisy power supply that keeps making loud clicking noises when using the aircon

6.When you checkout they purposely try to forget to refund your mini bar deposit and sometimes they want to see your receipts (keep all your receipts)

7. Yes the reception staff are dodgy people as one guy had said in the reviews.

8. count your mini bar when you check in there

the only good things about it is the restaarant downstairs and the buffet and the proximaty to many beer bars and many bargirls . at 500 baht i would not stay there as the employees are not trustworthy and the hotel in general is not that good for 400 baht a night i stay in a better place with people who are honest .im never going back to that hotel and thank god my freind recomended me a much better one

now stay at the mid town, its a hard to notice place on located on south premniuk road. if you head south on 2nd road ity turns into preminiuk road , after you pass VC hotel a few more blocks is soi yensabai you see its parking lot beside the food stall. very cheap looking sign. its an inn style motel with 2 floors where the doors of your room go out to the pool outside.

bad points not much security the doors have spring latch locks , no dead bolt security here. if you pissed off some teeruk she could probaably break down your door. thats about it

good points : they post a rate of 450 baht a night . tehy will let you negotiate a 400 baht rate per night just tell them you were there last year and you got that rate or say your friend sent you and said they would give you 400.

The staff are very friendly, and honest .never had a problem. the safe is behind reception in a room enclosure and they bar lock the room after 10 or 11 or something like that and reopen at 8or 9am. no one has the key during the closed time as teh manager locks it up and than leaves. the reception has a guy monitering 24 hours a day plus they got this helper guy who roams around keeping it clean andwatching for any problems.

the rooms are clean, no bugs , great maid service everyday, nice swimming pool which they clean everymorning , they got a second small pool around back too.

they are guest friendly and dont require ids for your guests, im not sure if this is a good thing or not about the ids.

5-7 min walk from walking street .

also the songtaew stops right in front of it to go to jomtien for 10or20baht.

the rooms have a fridge and aircon. you cant control the temperature though on the air con . but youcan turnit off by switching off the power switch attached to it .the aircon is pretty quiet.

they serve breakfast as they have a kitchen and a menu wuth your usual american breakfast and many thai dishes to choose from , ithink you can order food in the morning and daytime only im not sure . free drinking water from the water machine in the lobby (bring your own empty bottle) they have some pops in the mini bar fridge , they used to have beer but my last trip there were only pops in there.

comfortable king beds or think they were queens. they were pretty big beds. 2 singles is also available in some rooms . i found a small little lizard in the bathroom one night manage to chase him out of the room. the roomseems to have s small widow open slightly with a screen i guess to air it out . bathroom is your standard sink and shower toilet combo found in pattaya all in one no bathtub stall . rooms are a decent size not big but not small. you get tv with a bunch of channels , nothing special not that i watch tv while im down there but the teeruks seem to like it.

they were pretty discreet for me as i was butterflying likecrazy but they didnt say nothing to any of the girls , i even had this non bg coming from bkk spending weekends and holidays with me a few days at time when she was off work . they let her park her car in the lot. when she would head back to bkk to go back to work the same night id be bring back some dark teeruk from issan with losts of gold braclets on her and we know where id find her . than my non bg girl from bkk would come for another few days and they never said nothing to her despite seeing so many teeeruks come and go .

they got moto bike taxis sitting outside of it all the time so if you need a quick taxi you just head to the parking lot . the rceptionisit is nice enough to book bus trips or tours or taxi to airport whatever you want if your too lazy to bookit through those agents on the street . she will arrange the crocodile farm and some other pattaya park. theone receptionist is a hottie who always has a lot of cleavage an shows a little leg usually too.

when you order breakfast you can go to the pool and they will bring it out to you and you can eat by the pool there are tables there by the pool.

the rooms are marble type floors. they have cheap laundry service.

the place looks really cheap and your teeruk wont expect too much from you.

they are pretty flexible , they let me use the pool late at night as long as i dont make lost of noise. , i fucked my teeruk in there , i dont even think they cared or noticed.

good curtains on the room window complete darkness when you sleep at night. i get a good nights sleep there for some reason. the room is just comfortable. seems pretty quiet there .

they seem to be very personel and friendly , i think a lot of regular people go there that go back again and again as id see guys coming in andthey knew everybody threre already .

overall a great place to stay for 400 baht .The rooms are clean. whats important to me is that the staff are not dodgy. Of course this doesnt mean you should leave money or valueables in the room when your out . thats what the safe is for. air con and good service.Just lacks a little security . the only thing i leave in the room is my clothes . however it seems the stafff supervise everything taht is going on .my friend says they are watching for unusual activity even though it doesnt look like it. all i can say is its way better than the APEX in my oppinion .

Wouldnever go back to teh apex.

Inntown inn is right up the soi from baybreeze, the new lift in the baybreeze is A-OK, new and fast enough.

Pratumnak road is the boonies IMHO.

Went to the Apex Buffet Dinner tonight, which is reallyok for the price of 160 Bt I must say.

Was amazaed by the fact they had a "No vacancies" sign posted outside! So when even this shithole is fully booked now, I guess it might get difficult to find a decent spot to crash in Pattaya now! Amazing Thailand!

I agree with Sommy, if you stay at the Apex Keep Your Receipts!

The one and only time I stayed there my bill was padded 2,900 baht until I was able to prove what my deposits were with receipts.

The day before checkout me and my tirac were sleeping in when the maid knocked at the door. I politely told her to come back later. 30 minutes later she came back and said "I clean room now or not clean room today" WTF it was 10:30 am :eyecrazy

I ended up moving to TIMS down the road. No complaints there for the price.

Cheers,

TJ

" i found a small little lizard in the bathroom one night manage to chase him out of the room."

Hey come on sommy! The geckos have to eat too ya know! :D

If you leave your patio door or window open anytime in the late afternoon or evening the rascals will sneak in on ya. Even in the best of neighborhoods. But take heart! They only eat bugs! What spooks me is if one sneaks in and it is the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning scampering across the ceiling! B)

Pratumnak Rd is not QUITE in the boonies yet! It's my favorite way to get out of Walking Street actually. I usually take the Soi 16 or ?...the trail past Blues Factory anyway to get to Pratumnak because it's easier to catch a song taew there by the VC Hotel. You don't have to walk past all the lazy bums on Pattaya Tai who are asking you if you need a ride, then let you sit there for ten minutes until they have a full load! :eyecrazy

Besides, the tg's all love the seafood place with the high roof and I like the chicken kabob vendor near the street!

There's also a bookstore/newstand right by the kabob place that sells low cost thai/english dictionaries.

Good information on bargain priced hotels, gentlemen!

Yup...

Saw these both last night as I was taken there by TG friends after work...

The place (I think) is called Marine Seafood.. Right outside of Marine Disco...

Saw a fight between some middle eastern types and lady boys.. Violent, but *funny* (up until it got out of hand and the crowd turned on the middle eastern types...)

Saw the lines of baht busses double parked waiting for suckers... Just flagged down the first passing one...

Cheers

I think you are right, Saddic.

I got the name wrong tho. The foot path that passes infront of Blues Factory is Soi Lucky Star. Soi 16 is farther south and meets Soi Lucky Star (or the vehicular path anyway) infront of the Marine Plaza.

They do seem to have more than their fair share of dust-ups in the neighborhood. When you see all those normally friendly thai guys pulling out the sticks and bats it's time to walk the other way....... :D

I've never understood the thai inclination to just climb into whatever baht bus the drivers point at. I far prefer to walk out there and catch one that's moving.... You never have a long wait, whether you are north or south bound.

Take care,

Sa-teef

yes i have to agree the location of teh midtown is not really in the boonies . I can get to walking street in about 7 minutes walking , as soon as you exit out of the hotel you go to that big intersection where you can go diagonally to the left , this road takes you near tonys disco or diagonaly to the right an this road takes you more to the middle of walking street ,that road passes that seafood place with the high roof , this place has the cheapest lobster per pound rate that ive seen but they dont really do up the lobster where is some of teh other places you can have termidor style with cheese and all. and yes another cool thing is the songtaew stops right in front of midtown to go to jomtien or you can take the other songtaew to go all th eway to north pattaya. the only thing i dont like about midtown is they are a little too south pattaya, I actually have a lot more fun in north pattaya , i find that the girls up in north pattaya are little more fun and are less money hungry and seem to do better in bed , thats been my experience , where as in walking street beer bars i seem to come across a some starfishes except for the gogos . but luck be it ive always had more fun and cheaper fun with the girls in north pattaya.those beer bars in soi 1 and soi 2 and all the other sois around there. Gotta watch out lot of lady boys up there too theres a little too many up that way too. i want to try some grils in the so called naklua beer bar area apparantly i hear there pretty slow up there and girls are really freindly. Any bosy know anything abouyt naklua road beer bars any good ecperiences up that way. I think i got off topic on the hotels sorry............

I understand that they are (or have already) going to start construction work right next door to the apex where those three bars were, so thats another pretty good reason not to stay there

those 3 bars are now 1 big bar with 3 sections (all 1 big bar) Someone spent some money to refurbish it so who knows what?
