If anybody is coming to Pattaya in the next few weeks make sure you have your hotel booked . I was hoping to do a walk-in but I could only get 1 night at the Dynasty Inn as they are fully booked for the next few weeks . I tried 6 other hotels but they all were full . I reluctantly ended up staying at Tims again & I was awoke this morning at 7 am to the THUMP THUMP of a pile driver in the construction site behind the bar .

Yeah, things are pretty tight here now with people re-directing here from Phuket and Chinese New Year festivities now in full swing. In the past things start winding down by the end of Feb., and certainly the early part of March when the temps here start heating up.

The key I try to make that several cheap charlies on the board always dispute. It is better to book hotel in advance. I was in LOS in 2004 in JAN, FEB, April, july, september, and nov/dec. Every single trip including "SLOW" times hotels afetr hotel was sold out for one or more of the days I wanted to stay. One trip I satyed at the marriot for 7 days becuase it was the only hotel above 1300 baht that had 7 straight days available. My girl looked at me like I was craszy becuase I spent all of one day and part of another trying to find a room after I was there. On July trip, Sandy springs, hard rock, dynasty, lek, royal garden, montien, AA, boathouse, and other I can't remember were sold out for 1 or more days. If you don't care where you stay you can always find a room. But if you are after certain location or price range, etc then you can spend a lot of time tryoing to find a room. ANd is that how you want to spend your vacation??? :P :kissing

I guess that I've been lucky as I've always been able to find a place. Probably because I don't limit myself to a small area. I've stayed as far south as Soi Yensabai, Soi 4 to the north and 3rd Rd to the east. All these places where within a 200 meter walk to the baht bus lines. I found a really nice place this past mid November on a walk up and it was one of the nicest places I've stayed in Pattaya and at the cheapest rate as I booked it for a month (12,000). The worst place I've ever stayed was the Pattaya Center on Soi 12 which I booked over the net on my very first trip.

Further to what Emil states, I like to stay in a different area each time I go there- I like the variety, and also like to explore new areas.

This time I will be staying on Soi 6 - should be interesting! I hope to explore the north end of Pattaya a little further.

hi johnny k, I had my favorite bar on soi 18, naklua road, its called the sing along bar. A great Thai guy plays the music and you and other people can get up and sing or not as the case may be. It only a small place but I have had a few fun times there.

Coming over end of April and I'm thinking of staying Naklua way and exploring the Kittens area.

Any bar or hotel recommendations there?

Sorry Johnny but you've gone past my research area. You might want to check out the just opened Sabai on Soi 1 or the soon to be opened Sabai Resort next to the Sabai Room. You would just be a short baht bus to Kittens or a short walk to those bars up by Tiffanfy's.
