Fitness Room - Areca Lodge

Recommended Posts

I have stayed at the Areca a few times but never used the gym. Have been in the gym as you get towels for the pool from there. :D

A mate of mine did use it last year and thought it was pretty good. From my basic observations I saw 2 treadmills and the usual machine type equipment for doing bench presses etc. Think I saw a few loose weights too.

Seems to be enough to get a decent workout. Don't think there is any air-con though.

Cannot comment on the difference in the rooms as I have only stayed in the Standard Rooms. They introduced the Superior etc. towards the end of last year but the Standard does me. :D

Hope this helps. Held off from posting as I thought you may get a reply from someone who has actually used the gym. Obviously not many fitness fanatics use the Areca and I never saw more than 2 people in the gym. :beer

To go to the fitness room go out the front door of the hotel and go down the soi that is directly across the street and slightly to the right. About 25 meters down the street is the fitness room. The sign says Lolitas. After a 30 minute workout there you will feel much better. :eyecrazy :D

So can I have the location of Ardeca lodge? is it down that soi next to Kiss restaurant? and how far?

Right past Kiss by maybe a 1/4 of a block on your right. Nice hotel. I'll be staying there in June.

Just been to the booking site and it says they would want a deposit of between 10 and 30% and the balance 2 days before arrival, is that right?

That is what I did in 2003. Many boardies think that deposits are unnecessary and won't pay them. It really didn't bother me. The hotel treated me very well and I had no complaints. Everything was completely above board and legit.

To be honest I can't remember but I don't think I did.

I'm planning on staying at Areca in June. Given conversations I have had with other boardies I have decided to email Acera and negociate a price rather than going through a reservation website. Many seem to think you can get a reduced room rate that way especially in low season.

I have even considered just showing-up and negociating in person. That may be a good approach. Then the manager has to make a desicion on the spot. 'Do I want this guys money right now or lose his business although?' I'd imagine that if they have a lot of empty rooms in low season they may bite.

jimimac,

Spent a few weeks in Areca a few weeks ago and used the treadmill in the fitness centre most days. Top_Cat is correct. There is no AC in the fitness room. They have fans. There are 2 treadmills 1 for men and 1 for women. The other equipment seems to be well up to scratch. BTW I am not a fitness fanatic. I am just trying to ward off old age for a few more years.
