Stayed at the Sawasdee Sea View about 3 weeks ago.

No joiner fee.

Not a lot of noise, but if you're on a floor with high occupancy, there will be sounds now and then.

No pool. No in-room safe.

The tailor on site provided me with shirts at a good price with a very fast turnaround. He seems to accidentally project an impression of scam artist, but he's honest.

There are a handful of small beer bars within about 100 feet of the entrance. Also, next to them, there is a convenience store that has the Bangkok Post every morning.

Beach Road is about 100 feet from the entrance.

I did not get a sea view room. I asked for one but they didn't have one when I stayed. It was disappointing.

The TV is not good quality. About 1/3 the channels are grainy on the screen. I suspect it is cable loss to the satellite dish. This might have been only my room. I didn't care much so I didn't change rooms.

The bed is comfortable, the aircon is adequately powered, housekeeping does a nice job and provides some extra bottled water and an extra towel if you just leave 20 baht on the pillow when you go out each day.

The breakfast is at best, average. Other alternatives are easy walking distance. Breakfast is buffet, and you can take your plate out into the foyer where there are

many tables and chairs and watch a big screen TV in the morning with other guests. It's pleasant, but the food is subpar. The Sportsman is a couple of sois away and it is far superior breakfast.

The front desk staff speak English adequately, but not superbly. Laundry service is a tad slow, but only a tad and reasonably priced.

It's pretty good value. No major complaints.

My mate has booked us 2 single rooms, I would prefer a double, are the singles large enough for a guest ? I am only a little bloke, so a fair sized single bed will do. If the singles are a bit cramped though , I'll not like it.

not spent much time at the hotel but its more than likely that you will probably get a room with a double bed even though its a single occupancy. best thing when you arrive ask for a double or contact the agent you booked the hotel thru and request a double. usually, a single and double price is the same!

Don't worry!

A single bed means one big bed for two people, sometimes so big you can squeeze in an extra girl or to if you are up to it!

Double bed means two beds usually smaller, can be cramped for two people in one bed! plahgat

Thanks plahgat,

I was thinking, who in Pattaya wants a single room ? I was as concerned about the size of the room, as well as the bed. I feel a lot happier now. :ang2

On first visit to LOS visited Pattaya for 1 night and stayed at the Sea View. Was shown round 3 rooms before I found one I liked. One of the rooms the air-con was in bits :hairout

On the room I eventually ended up in found the shower didn't work, and after complaining a handyman came and fixed it.

Would I stop there again? only if I was stuck for somewhere to go!

Booked a superior double room at Wing B for 3 nights next week @ 900 bath through Sawadee Sea View Hotel Booking. They requested for full payment for 3 nights 2,700 bath by credit card immediately so as to ensure my booking. Accroding to them all the rooms had been fully booked.

Would appreciate your advice as to whether I should pay through the "secure website", (they claimed). If not, any other suggestion? Aslo, what is the difference between a superior double and a deluxe room (the deluxe seems to be in high demand).

Thanks

i suggest you book through asiatravel.com it will also save you 20baht. i stayed here in january. decent hotel but could have been better considering the price. deluxe room is slightly larger than the superior. nb. no in-room safe by the way. availability shouldn't really be a problem!

Well the website clearly states rooms have 'safety deposit boxes'. so that puts me off straight away!

Shame, as they were on my 'watch list'.

The pictures do look nice though! Was the reality different?

i stayed in the deluxe double which was quite spacious (rm 234). bed was quite hard though but it had enough space to fit 3/4 people. TV had bad reception! no problems with the safety deposit boxes at reception

That's all well and good. However, how can you possibly place your passport and cards in a reception, safety deposit box, with the knowledge that a member of staff, a complete stranger, has a key!

Makes me sweat thinking about it!

Hi Deadman

Sent a request to asialtravel yesterday, have yet to receive their reply. Will call them later if no reply. One more question, is the size of the bed of the superior double is similar to the deluxe room ie. has enough space for 3/4 persons (i am more concern about the size of the bed rather than the room) ?

Note that aisatravel has an offer for Mercure at the price of 1,200 bath, that is another option for me!

Thanks

hi ya, thats what i thought first but there's actually 2 keys needed to open the boxes. the hotel keeps one & you keep one.

i believe the beds are the same size.

i was thinking of staying at the mercure in january but it seems that the hotel is a bit out of the way. i wouldn't really want to walk in the middle of the night down some darkened streets especially after some drinks!!!

I stayed there last June.

I found it a nice little place, out of the way, quiet and clean. The price was great, as I was paying 750 baht a nite for a queen sized room. Very comfortable, and being on Soi 10, it was just far enough away to feel relaxed when not indulged too deeply in all the action. Walking distance, easily, to anything when you're sober, but a trek when totally shitfaced drunk. LOL

The ladies I brought home didn't seem offended by my residence, and the hotel staff were very "girl friendly"; with one night I returned early (just to shower before I went out again) and one of the bell-boys out front seemed concerned that I was without company and offered to go retrieve something for me.

My thoughts of Sawasdee Sea View! Once again I would like to thank everyone who added comments to this post. I would have to agree with many board members about the conditions, location and service of the hotel. You can not beat the price to start off with. True there is no pool but I was not concern with that. The only think that I would recommend is that you request a room so that your window will be facing North Pattaya. The only thing you'll see is another building but your window will not be on the same side as the street that has a beer bar, laundry room, makeshift restaurant and of course a couple of motorbikes/cars going down the one way street at all times of the night. Besides that I never had problems with the staff or bring my friends up. They just had to drop off there ID cards. My bathroom was good size to take a bath for two. Now that I think about it there was not 24 hour room service. I use to always stay at the Royal Palace Hotel with 24 hour service. So those are the only two things I can really think of. I will stay there again with no hesitation ... zarusoba! :clap2
