crock pots

Hi Guys,

Suspose only long term residents there can properly answer this inquiry and can't imagine short term stayers even bothering with it. Would like to know if crock pots, commonly know as slow cookers, are available there and if so at what cost.

Great for making beef stews, soup beans, and a whole host of stuff you might miss from back home(Personally, I like good old Navy beans with a ham hock cooked with it once in awhile). On this note, are dry Navy(white) beans, and other types such as Pinto, Lima, etc., also available there. Thanks in advance guys, not a very important matter but just curious here. Would probably be eating out most of the time anyway but with a crock pot one can easily make some of those back home dishes with hardly any effort at all. Have a good one and enjoy.

P.S. Don't have a clue if one those rice cookers would serve the same purpose as just don't know how slow they cook.

The type of rice cooker I have wouldn't work because it shuts off automatically as soon as all the water is absorbed into the rice or evaporates. If you have a small one you could always bring it over and buy a step down transformer if its 110. I'll be back over next week and will try to remember to look in the store to see if they have them if no one else can confirm.

I saw these at Carrefour but only saw a large size there so what you might want to do is invite a large number of TG's up for a party and feed them Beans and warm Beer Then get them together for some night time action should be quite interesting indeed

A Rice cooker would not fit the bill for what you want to do

Try CarreFour, Lotus or BigC. One of them might have them. Otherwise you might have a better chance to find one in BKK.

I've seen them in Robinson's also. Robinson's has a number of appliances that farangs are familiar with but most Thais don't use. Like I bought an electric beater there.

 

The only problem is the nearest Robinson's is in Sri Racha.

Are 220>110 transformers easy to find, and I'm not talking about voltage only step-downs, but voltage and hertz.

Almost every visit to pattaya, I buy a　transformer at Carrefour. I use it for 100V electric apparatus. It may be 220/100V 50Herz. So called capacity is 500VA, but doubtful. I only use under 100 watts, but it reaches a high temperature. So I use stainless cup to cool it.

The price was 1179Bht.

They had only one type.
