Is there any 5 star hotels don't charge guest fee?

Do they charge guest fee even if I booked for 2 people and stayed with my thai girlfriend all the time? Or do they just charge guest fee for any farang who's staying with a thai girl?

Anyone knows about the guest policy at Dusit Hotel? I read the reviews, but some said yes and some said no.

Thanks in advance.

Sam

How can any hotel charge a guest fee if guest has booked a double room and turns up with his girlfriend? If I were you if you have not already done so at booking I would add your tgf name to the booking , job done.

Marriot

I have read on these boards that the deal at Marriott depends on the deal you are on for your room, if you are on some cheapo deal they collar you on the way in, if you are paying top money no problem.

Yes, pretty amazing!

BVut this would not apply as above.

Having stayed at the Marriott and Duset on my first 4 or 5 trips....

my two cents worth.....

a) i stayed there cuz i was a snob and grandiose

:P it was my comfort level

c) thought it would impress the girls

now, 10 trips or so later

i am LESS of a snob

i preferr Soi 3 or 4

i spend 2/3 less money

(thats $100 usd/4000 baht less per day)

the girls dont laugh at me cus i am at the Marriott

lets see, i am back in country for a month on 22 dec

have prepaid at Bella villa $675 usd for the full month inc bfast for 1

thats about $5,000 dollars less than the Marriott

buddy

do yourself a favor, maybe book a nite or 2 there, but get LOCAL

it WILL NOT enhance your experiance, in fact, will deter from it

jmho, and besides, its your money!

If she's booked in by name then no problem and no guest fee. But don't be surprised if you get stopped by hotel security until they get to know her as they'll assume she's a BG. Just clear it with reception. This is par for the course, and often happens even to guys with their Thai wives.

The Dusit charges a 1000 baht guest fee, but it can be waived if you make your booking direct with the hotel rather than via a third party.

Guest fees...

This is total hypocrisy when you think about it (i.e., “We don’t want your whore here but if you give us money it will be fine”). If you find yourself in such a place then find yourself some other place the next day.

Tsk, tsk. I think the word you're looking for is "prostitution."

(Not in place of "whore", in place of "hypocrisy".) :nod

You shouldn't have a problem if you check in together and she's the only one you bring back to the hotel and dresses conservativley. Like others have mentioned those places are overpriced and if your paying 4 times more than another place I don't see 4 time the benefit. I would get a nice place like the Bella Villa or Sunshine Vista and with the money saved take her to the gold shop at the end of your trip if she took care of you well.

Guys, 5 star hotels are not in the habit of pissing off their guests. The Marriott built a hotel a stone's throw from Nana Plaza so that should tell you something.

Just walk in like you own the joint and there shouldn't be a problem. Of all the stories I've heard of getting asked for joiner fees, the culprit is usually the guard looking to squeeze out a few bob from the naive newbie. Ignore him or befriend the guy early in your trip. A 100 baht tip can go a heck of a long way with some of these guys.

If any of the front desk staff gives you grief, politely express your displeasure and say you want to speak to the general manager in the morning. They should back off.

Rodeoo, you make a good point about places like the Bella Villa being better value for money but sometimes there's variables attached, i.e., the firm is picking up the tab or you have hotel miles so why not use them.

If you can get the Marriott in Pattas for $60-70 a night, you've got a good deal. The pool at the bella Villa just ain't quite the same.

Just because she has 3 baht worth of gold around her neck and 6 tattoos? :nod

How dare they make such assumptions! :ang2 :P

Absolutely!!!

The TG isn't going to be impressed that punterjoe is paying through the nose for a "luxury" hotel. :nod

In fact, she might be pissed off because its money not being spent on her. :ang2

In that regard they have their heads screwed on right. :P

The Phuket Hilton kept trying to charge me a 1000 baht, but I just kept reminding them that the room had been reserved for two people. Its even better because I didn't pay anything for the room. I used Hilton points.

Just my 2 satang...

I also like to stay in 4-5 star hotels, but its nothing to do with trying to impress the girls, i do cause i like to stay i those kind of hotel, where i can spend the day in a nice pool, and have a nice room, where i feel good, i could not care less what a bg thinks of my hotel choice, but i never hear a bg not like to stay in a 5 star hotel compare to some other low star hotels in pattaya.

i always book for two in the hotels, by internet, and the name of my guest is always

Mss My Thaigirl

all computers accept it, and when they print it out in the hotel, this name come on the paper, email, or.....

never paid a guest fee like this, when stayed with only one girl all the time, but we arrived together, and left together (like couple)

Marriott Pattaya and Bangkok has not charged me a guest fee ever, and the staff have not cornered me to pay a joiner fee at all.

As for the Phuket Hilton, I stayed there in April, and again, no guest fee, during my whole trip and the service was excellent.

My take on this is I would never pay a joiner fee to any hotel. It is a racket~!!!...I do not know any country that does this to a tourist. My suggestion is to be discreet, when entering a hotel of this caliber and not attract attention. Keep in mind that these type of hotels cater to families too, and just want to satisfy all parties staying there.

Lastly, politeness helps with hotel staff. In my stays, by the time you leave, your name is remembered by staff and courtesy is the name of the game.
