6000bht less that quite a lot.

Im just wondering why you would change so much in a UK bank.You were always going to get ripped.

 

If you had waited till you arrived in Pattaya you would have got around 67/68B to the pound.

Dont wait till youve ran out of baht. Keep checking banks and exchanges as your are walking about and change on a day they have a good rate.

You get a better rate in Thailand than the uk.

6000baht is a big difference. You would notice that if you were living on £1000 per month over there.

Rates are usually same wherever you change money .

 

You should open a Nationwide flex a/c and use ATMs as you will get a better rate when the money comes from your a/c they dont take a % or charge. Some of the ATMs charge 20 bht but most are free.

Why on earth did you change money in the UK? You will get much better rate in thailand.

In my experience you will get close to the mid-rate in Bangkok so I assume same for pattaya. As I write mid-price is 67.8345

Stephen I too was there in Oct last and never got below 72/1 highest 74+/1,like you I am returning again (25 days) and will change money again in Pattaya,Also on arrival at Airport as I have found that in general the airport rate has been on a par With other places.Really 63/1 is just a rip off.

The current mid-price 1Euro=47 Baht,so if u only got 33 u just got ripped

Two months after the euro was introduced its low point was just under 33 baht

01-01-2001 was when the euro came in,or 2002 so it was the begining of march that year.

last year i got at one point 55 baht for one euro.

thats the peaks and troughs in five years.

Looks like its starting to stablize around 62.5b to pound after sliding these last few months in England whick makes it about 66b to pound in Thailand. Maybe this is where it could be staying for a while

I find it totally bewildering why anybody changes £5,$5 or 5 Euros into baht before arriving in Don Maung.

What can it be possibly spent on ??

If the airline diverts to Delhi or Dhaka what will you do with them ??

Baht weakened to about 67.5 from 67.1, after the election result was clear.

 

Hopefully it's a case of - buy the rumour, sell the fact!

 

Hoping for a decline to 70.0 through April and then further slippage to 75.0, around my arrival date of 27th May

 

Would not like it to go through 67.0, as it would signal a new trend.

If the £ was back to 40 then sterling and the dollar would be at parity in which case we're all up shit creek anyway !

Some guy on one of the stock message boards the other day was insisting that shorting the Thai Baht would be a good trade. If you ask me, it may be at the top of its trading range against the dollar, but then again, the dollar is supposedly headed south. I'd be happy of things stay the way they are.

For purly selfish reasons, hope the unrest will continue for awhile (nothing drastic, mind you) so that the Bath will fall against the dollar. At any rate, I expect it to be 40 - 1 or thereabouts by the time arrive next week.
