Love soi 13

stayed at AA Residence

Lek and Dynesty

thinking of trying Sandy Springs 1-11 july

what should be a good walk-in price and is the "deluxe" rooms worth the extra baht?

any recommedations on room#s or floors to stay on or avoid?

has the "noise" issue subsided?

tanks and close air support

Not sure what you mean by "Deluxe" but the "Deluxe Sea View" rooms are regular rooms with a view of Pattaya Bay. While I like Soi 13, I don't think

the Sandy Spring is worth the money compared with other hotels in Pattaya.

It is plain and lacks some of the basic amenities other hotels provide at the same or lower cost.

I personally think Soi 13 has become too built up now,and still more building going on.

While places like Whitehouse,Dynasty etc look nice inside and out, rooms down either side of buildings, whilst having balconies, have absolutely no view as they face balconies of hotel next door about 20 ft away,so no privacy either.

I stayed at the SS at the end of May, beginning of June.

I wasn't sure what soi 13 hotel to go for, as there is now a bit more of a choice, so didn't book ahead.

I opted for the SS as I thought it would be nice to have a sea view room for my first few night in LOS and it says on the web site that the rooms have internet connection.

I arrived about 9am and they were pretty full. If I waited til 12, someone was checking out of a deluxe seaview room, but it had twin beds. Otherwise no deluxe seaviews available.

So I opted for the standard room at B1200.

As other people have mentioned in other posts, if staying for a while you can buy a discount card when you check in for a discount rate (but I forgot about that, and I thought I was only staying a couple of days), or you can book through http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/sandy/ for a reduced rate, plus a daily free beer.

They have no internet connections in the rooms, like they say on their website. You can connect to dialup via the phoneline if you have a cable and connection CD (which the hotel will sell you).

To be honest I was totally unimpressed by the room. But saying that, in the last 4 weeks I've also stayed at the Dynasty and Whitehouse Condotel and was pretty unimpressed with them to, for one reason or another.

It's been 3 years since I was in LOS and then paid B700 for a room at the AA Residence. So perhaps my expectations are out of date! But the AA Hotel is still only B800. Don't know current cost of AA Residence as I didn't stay there because of the building next door.

I totally agree with pauly77, soi 13 is now far too built up. Everything is so close, and most views are directly at another hotel only feet away. I've got some pics of the great views from the balconies.

I will post a brief summary of my impressions of these hotels tomorrow. I've taken pics of all the rooms, so will do a hotel review of each in the next day or two.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the replys

when i first started on the board Sandy Springs was the "go to" place with veteran board members, it has since been replaced by the Areca, which I've looked at and had friends staying at but never have myself.

think i'll probley stick to the flipper.

  • 3 months later...

Just checked with the Sandy Springs for Feb 2007 and they quoted me a price of 2800 for a suite with Seaview and 2500 for a regular suite. Said the prices went up in August. Although I stayed there in September and paid 1990 for the suite. I like the area and I like the idea of two large rooms but 2500 is a little to much for what you get. Will have to start looking somewhere eles.

Anyone have any suggestions for suite rooms (two seperate rooms)? Also do not like the idea of credit card over the net so would hope to find place that will accept reservation without deposit.

Just got back and stayed at the Whitehouse. My buddy stayed in their Suite. He had a bedroom, dining area/kitchen and living area with TV, DVD player, couch, love seat, etc. for 2500 per night.

Only problem is again, no view other than the pool across the street (Lek hotel, I think)

They have inroom internet for 100 baht a day. I used it and it was ok, it wasn't great but it did the trick and beat having to go to a cafe everyday.
