58,800 / week

Hi Martin,

I just got an email back from reservations and the discounts dont apply to the Metropole, versace and family suites. Not to worry though I still booked the Metropole suite. Thanks for making me aware of this up market hotel :clap2

let us know how that works out for you. i'm thinking of renting the place for a month this year.

i've only seen it from the parking lot out front, but it looks spacious and nice from down below.

take lots of pictures if you can and don't mind.

No problem Fountainhead. I plan on taking heaps of photos. We have made a pact to have a minimum of 2 girls each at least every second day in the room, so I will gladly post some pics in the room!!! :clap2

Late breaking news about the LK Metropole internet stance.

After "upgrading" their system (doubling the broadband external connection), installing a security system and a new traffic policing policy, the in room bandwidth is now limited to a fraction of what it was before these "upgrades". I'm lucky to get 600kbps now, where before I was getting 2mbs.

But, the final straw is this note I received from the hotel today:

lk_internet1.jpg

I'll be speaking with the management to find out how serious they are about this money-grubbing scheme. With any luck, they'll rescind it, but for now, take note that this is not an internet user friendly hotel.

Also, there is a note on the gym saying that there is now a charge for use of the gym...something like 2000B/month. I don't know if that applies to guests or outsiders who want to use the gym (something I have yet to do).

That sucks and may even force people to leave or not book. Why do mid and top end places still do this ? Surely they would be better off just hiking the rate marginally after a period of time and absorbing the cost that way. Penny pinching always leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Silly silly! Guests already pay 2000B/month for what was once unlimited internet access. Now they are required to login/logout when they use the internet or they will run up huge bills. I spoke to the reception staff and they indicated they are getting a lot of complaints/questions about it and don't know for sure what the policy really is. The manager wasn't available when I went down there.

I should point out that they told me I could get a direct line to my room and subscribe directly with an ISP if I wanted to. That actually might be a better alternative for long stay guests...cheaper too.

Follow up on the Metropole internet charging....

They apparently have implemented the timed system for new customers. The long stay residents I spoke to can avoid the timed system by paying 2000B/month for unlimited internet access. Since I was doing that all along, my connection is exempt.

I don't know if they have an option for monthly residents to pay 2000B for unlimited access rather than buying the timed access.

Bandwidth problems seem to be better. I have been getting 1.6mpbs download speeds recently.

I'm staying in a 1 bedroom now and fully endorse the place. The staff have been very friendly.

The room itslef is great. Nice verandas looking out over the pool, 2 tvs, dvd player, fridge, microwave, hotplates, kitchenware, and good furnishings. Nice comfortable bed, and good airconditioning.

The breakfast is ok, runs late, and the coupons can be used at any time of the day.

The gym is small but has about 130 kgs of bench press weight, and dumbbells up to 50 lbs. So not suited to serious lifters, but good for a quick work out.

Guest friendly. 3000 baht including tax and breakfast. FLB rate quoted.

Cheers

No credit card needed to confirm booking !

I would have thought they'd have one to borrow, to save guests buying one. It is the only hotel I have been to that hasn't had one.

If I can't be arsed going to a laundromat then I don't think I'll be going to an electronics store. I think I'll just continue to wear wrinkled shirts.

MM (or anybody who knows),

i just booked a week at the LK Metro...

will i be able to get in-room DSL there for just a week, minus firewalls (or anything that'll prevent me from using VPN), minus logging onto a network (and getting periodically logged off)? i don't mind paying X baht for the service, i just need to know that i'll be able to do my work.

All rooms have in room ADSL now. There is a central router, but I don't think it will prevent VPN usage (I don't use VPN so I cannot guarantee). If there is a problem, the IT guy is pretty reasonable about unblocking ports. You do have to log in to their security (e.g. timing for money) interface, but it will stay logged in until you log out (or your time expires).

Don't work too hard. :hijack:

To those of you making reservations with the LK Metropole, using the FLB rate request, please inlclude your pattayatalk user name in your email. The reservations desk is getting so many requests, they are concerned non-members are using the rate.

So, from today on, they will be asking me if the user name is a valid member name on the board.

I'll also be providing a free drink at FLB coupon with your reservation (haven't printed them up yet, but they will be coming soon).

This hotel was fantastic. We had the Versace room and the Penthouse for a week and a standard room for a week. The staff were fantastic, the rooms were superb and the service was amazing. I will definately stay here again.

Thanks to Matrin for bringing this place to my attention.

I have many photos of the Penthouse which I will post soon.

The room was probably about 210m2 and the balcony with the spa was approx 500m2. Perfect for parties, it also had 3 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms.

The best pace I have ever stayed, also a fantastic location and all the girls said it was the best rooms that they have seen.

I am staying in a superior room right now and am happy with it. I would book the suites when I return. The room is huge I could use a few more pillows and extra towels. The internet is fine I wish they would have a daily rate or weekly if they want to mess with cards and I would prefer they just make it free and add it in the room rate. I did not ask for the flb rate I forgot I wonder if they would honer it since I don't check out for 6 nights.

I did have lunch in the restaurant and found the food fine.
