Whats the correct procedure ?

hello everybody,

i am mulphy . i have only registerd on this board today, so dont have any experience on this board, though i do post on a couple of other pattaya related boards.

 

i am an ex pat, having lived in pattaya for around 4 years now. i own a bar and guesthouse , and enjoy the whole pattaya scene.

 

i would of course like to introduce my bar and guesthouse onto this board but dont want to step on anybodys toes by doing anything wrong. so what is the correct procedure for doing this without causing any offence.

 

if this message board is half as informative and entertaining as the others i use, then im sure i will enjoy it here.

Firstly, you've been upgraded to member status, so you can see the rest of the board.

 

This site isn't for free advertising unless you provide content to the membership as well. For example, if you were to just come on and say "Come stay at my place, it's the best in town", you'd probably get a reaction from the board members that you deserve. They love to identify spammers.

 

But, if you are a contributing member of the forum, have a business, and have something to say about it, as long as the information is useful to the community of readers, then go ahead. Touting your business ought not to be the sole reason for participation on the board. That will be transparently obvious to everyone if it is.

no touting my business is not the only reason ive come on here . i do enjoy the other boards im a member of and am a regular contributor on these other boards .

 

i notice many of the members online are members of the other boards that i use so will know about me already.

 

i am often to be seen on other boards , giving my strong opinions on everything pattaya .i am also well aware of all the sharks waiting out there to pounce on someone who the percieve to be blatantly advertising.

 

i hope through the board people will find out about my business , but im not here to blatantly flaunt it.

 

im here for the information and the entertainment, and if i can make a few friends along the way and gain a few customers i ll be a happy bunny.

I came over to the Rockhouse last week to say hello and introduce myself. You gave me an invite to your Tuesday night party, but I was otherwise engaged with a lovely lady from FLB that night and couildn't make it.

 

Your bar looked very smart and clean and your staff were pleasant and efficient.

 

With regard tio the correct procedure, let's hope that we don't find a number of first time posters all suddenly proclaiming that your place is the best in Pattaya. I think that this nore established forum pays more attention to the seasoned poster rather than the first timer. That said, it's great to see you here,

in as far as my bar goes, once i find out the approptiate area on the board to post about business , i will simply give name, location and general description and invite your members to do any reviews , as ive learned in the past that no matter how good the intention of giving a write up on your own place, it only leaves you open to attack from those of a suspicious disposition.

As you said there are plenty of here that are on other boards as well and as time goes on you will dicover more and more of them although they don't always have the same board name.

Mikes Shopping Mall on 2nd road. Take your life in your hands and cross 2nd Road. Walk down LK Metro past the Beefeater on your right, past Papagayo on your right, past the Beer Bar complex which includes Nid Bar on your right and past the Areca Lodge on your right. There is a new precinct on the left with Lolitas and The Rockhouse. If you get as far as the VW camper van bar parked in front of the LK Metropole on your left, then you have gone too far.

 

I found that a number of people didn't know the LK complex very well and even taxis were dropping me off in the wrong part. I couldn't determine whether to call it LK Metro or Soi Diana.

 

No doubt someone will answer at put the record straight.

All of this is on Soi Diana Inn.

This area is Soi LK Metro. More than one BM has an establishment here.

Mulphy's bar and guesthouse is called the Rockhouse..I've never been there but have seen pictures.the place looks good. So much so I have just booked one of the rooms for 12 nights in January.

Over the years I have sat quietly in bars listening to the most obnoxious bunch of wankers that "Own" bars... Most of the worst ones are fucking arrogant English bastards ( Um, I am English). The best owner I have ever met being the owner of Angelwitch when it was a one small shoplot in NEP. He has scraped me off the floor many times!!

 

I am a new member to this forum but FLB and Cherry Bar have definately won me over and are on my list to visit next time in Patts in December. If you talk sense and are not full of bullshit you have my full support!!

 

But it might be the Devil's curse cos I am not necessarily a good customer!

Just an idea, but you might want to put an "ad" in your signature. That's a way to get your bar's name out there without having that be the substance of your posts. You're then free to post where you'd like about what you'd like. (I think that's allowed, anyway)

So far, I have a discount hotel room, a cheap ride from the airport to my hotel, a guy who's gonna show me the inside skinny on BKK (thanks, dotcom!), and a shit load of pertinant information on my trip to LOS in January, thanks to the folks on this forum. So, I think it will be just fine if you go ahead and just let it out, baby!

 

That is, where is your bar and why is it the place for this big, horny, thirsty fucker to be in a few weeks? To wit; what do you offer that is above and beyond the 3,000 or so other bars in the neighborhood?

 

Don't mean for that to sound shitty, but what is your angle that sets you apart?

well id say you might want to come to it if you enjoyed a nicely fitted out indoor air conditioned bar that plays some of the best music in pattaya. who s prices are very reasonable being about 40 % less than most bars on walking st , and maybe even a few ladies to hold your attention.

 

you might even want to stay in one of our luxury apartments, which are also great value for the money and hard to beat in pattaya on a similar price scale.

 

so that might be the reasons that youd want to go to my bar as opposed to any of the 3000 or so others, though i recommend you try lots of bars to see the difference.

I took a look at your website...it looks pretty nice! It looks like you put quite a bit into "style" in the bar and it looks pretty good.

 

The rooms look pretty nice as well. A few things that would definitely help the site, though:

 

1. More pictures of the rooms. If I'm going to pre-book a room I want to know exactly what I'm getting into. There are shitholes that go for 300-500 baht a room that look OUTSTANDING with one or two tiny pictures. I'd want to see more before I was going to book with you. <edit - I was looking at your site more and went through your PHOTO GALLERY and you have QUITE a few pictures of your rooms. Wouldn't they do well placed in the accomodation section, though?>

 

2. Prices - No prices listed? Maybe that's intentional and you want people to contact you first to discuss...but I think you'll have many that won't bother contacting you without a price listed. Along with that, maybe have some of the drinks and prices listed as well? Say what times/days your happy hour or special pricing is?

 

3. Girls - Have pictures of your girls! Even if you don't have many, take a ton of pictures and sort through them to get the girls in their best light and post them on your website. Just having 1 picture of 1 girl that lights a fire under someone's ass and gets them to your bar may start to get you the word of mouth you need to have others come as well.

 

4. Blog - Have some kind of an updated news blog on your website talking about what you're doing, upcoming events, post pictures of parties or fun times, etc. It would be something for me to check into every once in a while and keep me going back to your site, keeping it fresh in my mind so that I don't forget about your bar when I'm in bar overload and in Pattaya.

I'm an Aussie but support the Edinburgh bead rattlers (Hibs) though like yourself, i'm into the fitba more that the bullshit. Enjoy (and miss) the banter on the terraces though. Look forward to nipping in for a few beers in Feb.
