West east travel

Recommended Posts

I have priced flights with west-east travel from 29th June- 28th july and I am getting flights with thai airways for £474. I am just wondering what other BM's have thought of west east travel when you have booked with them in the past. Any info would be great as I am thinking of booking these flights within the next couple of days.

Thanks,

Meatball

I've used them many times and never had a problem. Never a problem reserving a seat with them either and the confirmation email is sent promptly, followed by the tickets. I always book by phone though,as the website is sometimes a little out of date.

I Have used West East for the last 9 trips and have always found them totally professional. Prices seem the best around and as had already been posted, the service is prompt and email confirmation is swift. I'd check the price on internet and then phone to confirm as you can discuss alternative flight times, variances in price etc (they are only slight). They dealt with my refund from a cancelled trip, after I was supposed to leave, in less than a week. thats service.

Thouroughly recommended, don't hesitate in booking mate. :D

I have used Westeast once before with no problems but I usually use Ours because I can pop into their office and chat to a solid 9 CSA :clueless She is from Taiwan but happily married :D

OK, I have just booked with Ours, a bit of a game because I wanted to upgrade using FF miles but Premium Laurel is very busy when I want to go, so I am down the back.

Out 31/1 back 1/3 :D

Last night I spent a couple of hours trawling the travel sites looking for Eva flights for my dates, Eva 651,Travelselect 600, Travelmood 680, Lees 663, Expedia 656, Opodo 603, STA 622, Travelocity 661, WestEast 590 all include tax, and wait for it, Ours 495 :D :D :D

The Ours fare is £375+ 120 tax, I pointed out that in November tax was 108, she say "now Thai departure tax included". These taxes are getting scandalous, even more from February 1st.

I also get free National express tickets, plus lounge access at LHR and BKK so not a bad deal.

It is quite difficult to book a flight using your FF miles at this time of the year and I will have to save them for later, maybe September.

ps: The Ours offer closes 19th January for bookings but flights are available to the end of May I think, 350+tax later.

Airport Departure tax from Thai airports will be included in the ticket price for flights departing on or after 1 Feb. It replaces the 500 Baht ticket that you had to buy at the airport.

As an aside, UK departure tax increases by 20 quid in economy and 40 quid in biz/premium economy on the same date.

Tom, I just noticed your Thai flag, maybe you should change your name to Thai Tom :D

OK, so I am doing a bit of work and my mobile goes, "Ours Travel"

"Your ticket is only valid 28 days, you have to change by 1 day".

Well no availability unless book out the 1st, and back 1st March.

£20 extra tax from 1st Feb :ang2 :D :ang2 :banana :ang2 :banana

I was between a rock and a hard place, I had no choice, the fare is fantastic at £375 but wait for it £139 TAX :ang2

In November my tax was £108 so £31 more in 2 months, £20 for UK and £10 for Thai, it is getting a joke, non-economy must have a tax now of about £180.

I understand I previously paid 500 baht at Suvanabhumi but good to rant

Will the last person to leave the UK please switch the lights out :D

The taxes in this country are getting bloody ridiculous now. Sure we have "free" health care and "free" education, but the vast majority of working brits I speak to would just love to "up sticks and go abroad!". Seems to be only immigrants want to come to good old blighty now! all the workers have had a guts full! ok rant over! ill have a j.d. and coke now and chill out! lol!

Firstly WestEast a very good - used them loads of times and no problems - It is now a nightmare to get through on the phone though. Have bought from lastminute.com the last 2 times as they were about 20quid cheaper than WE.

Secondly FREE education is no good if you ain't got kids and a FREE health service is no bloody good if you don't ever use it - Would much rather have the money and pay as I need it. Can't wait to retire and spend half the year abroad as I could never leave forever no matter how shit it got.......

Gus,

I'm actually in Siem Reap at the moment. I'll be back in UK for a few days when you arrive in LOS but I'll drop you a PM with my phone number in LOS so that we can (eventually) meet up somewhere.

Tom

Be careful I am Jao Choo mak mak

Should be BKK Feb 2, 3 and 4

HH 5-11

Koh tao 11-16

Lamai 16-22

Patong 22-28

I know you should not make plans, but if I change them for a TG I might fall in love :D

One thing I do have in the back of my mind is to Depart the UK end of October when they alter the clocks and return the end of March when the clocks go forward, I am sure I suffer from SAD Seasonal affected Disorder :clap1

I have never been to Koh Chang but it sounds pretty laid back there.

One thing that concerns me is moving out of Holiday mode into Resident mode, I must get out of the habit of spending 6000 per day :bow

UK board members ought to meet up outside the WestEast tent during the Battersea Thai festival :clap1

Hi,

It's supposed to be a carbon tax. However no steps have been taken to ring fence the money, so essentially it's just another tax on the public. I am far from certain about "global warming" but I am certain the Governments and Green Lobby are using it to gouge money from the public. Apparently the Earth has been a similar temperature centuries ago before any motorised transport had been invented. :nod

Personally I do not think aircraft are as big a culprit to Global warming as all these experts make out.

But there must come a time when you are not waiting in a queue on the taxiway for 15 minutes before you actually start the take off roll.

Also whether LHR,BKK or elsewhere you never seem to get a straight run in but have to go in the stack for 20 minutes.

With all this new technology if you actually pushed back, taxied and took off straight away and also when you arrived say the UK you just went into the approach.

I know bad weather could mess things up but I believe the taxying and stacking pollute the atmosphere more than the flying.

Thanks for the advice lads. I phoned west east yesterday and they told me they had no seats left on the flight home i needed. I ended up booking with airline network instead. Its was only about £10 dearer. So then only 22 weeks and 6 days to go.

I have used Westeast several times and never had a problem when booking over the phone. The last time though i made my booking on their website and found the fare rules displayed for the ticket i purchased were different to the ticket i was told i had bought when i received an email confirmation. So i would recommend caling them and NOT use their website as it is dodgy at best.

basically my flexi ticket suddenly became non changeable and i also got only 50% miles credited.

I have used westeast travel for the last couple of years and i have found them to be very good. What i do is go on to their website and in the contact us part i put my dates and submit it to them. They reply by e-mail normally the next day with the prices and any deals for those dates and i have a contact name if i want. I then phone them with the deal i want and quite often it is improved on the phone and i am still talking to them when they send all the details via e-mail. Never had a problem and i plan to keep on using them.

regards step
