VISITING NATIONAL PARKS

Recommended Posts

Just got back from 3 days on Koh Samet. the Park Ranger had no problem with giving me a 40 baht admission charge (thai price) rather than the 400 baht foreigner price when I showed him my local licence and told him I am living here. Also had success at a couple of other private run businesses (Underwater World etc) on the local price admission when showing the licence.

If you take any internal flights within Thailand, it's also accepted as your ID. I would also take your passport with you - just in case it's needed for any brush with the authorities.

Earlier this year, on a motorcycle trip through Issan, I used my Thai drivers license in a number of parks and sites...and always rec'd the Thai price.

In one park...a natural hotsprings...with a small geyser, I was charged 40-Bt

and the grungy 5-backpackers ahead of me each paid 250-Bt.

It brought glee to my heart....

This is great news, I have avoided many places for ages now as I despise the dual pricing policy and adopt a 'cut off my own nose' approach. :drunk Got my license this year, a whole new world opens up to me!
