I want to rent a car for 20 days. Cab somebody give me some advice or a good deal?

WHY? Better (maybe) to hire a driver and farm-out all the hassles this is Bangkok traffic. Sit back with your Tilac and get hammered.

I have to go with Tengotodo on this one. I don't know what country and city you're in, but trust me: there is nothing like driving in Thailand in general, and in Bangkok in particular. Unless you're in one of the countries where people drive on the left, you'll feel completely disoriented and have to fight years of practice and habits -- and probably unsuccessfully. If you already drive on that side of the road, you'll still have to adjust to the general chaos in Bangkok and the Formula 1-like driving on the highways (although it seems more like NASCAR a lot of the time).

Unless there's a genuine and unavoidable reason to rent and drive your own car, hire a driver/taxi/baht bus on an as-needed basis and save yourself a lot of aggravation. A lot!

If you're going to be driving in Bangkok or Pattaya a lot of the time, I'd go along with the above. However, away from there, the traffic is fairly light. I would be inclined to use one of the international firms, such as Avis etc. Remember that, you should have an International Drivers Licence from your own country to avoid potential problems when you are stopped by the Police.

If what your really asking is who is cheapest to rent from then thats the question to ask, otherwise the answer is, go with one of the big firms with a rep to sustain,or go for the cheapest ,take your pick.

Also bear in mind that the insurance cover you get from the cheaper firms may not be worth the paper it's written on!.

Go to Q-Cars.

The owner is called Jon and you can tell him you were recommended by me. The website has his main prices but he often has some cheaper options. This is not a micky mouse operation, more like 150+ cars and trucks and al with full insurance and breakdown cover.

If you are already running on the side of the road, you will always have to adapt to the general chaos of Bangkok, and Formula 1-like driving on the roads. It is very necessary to have an international driver's license from your country to avoid potential problems when you're stopped by police.

Budget Pattaya is well run and the cars are in good shape. I rented a Fortuner last trip and enjoyed it. I was hauling around a full car (6 passengers + me) last time and it was great being able to come and go at my leisure - especially since I was hitting all the tourist parks (and not so much the night life).

I had only one opportunity to visit friends and acquaintances on walking and even got lucky enough to find a decent parking spot on 2nd road.

Driving is certainly not for everyone, and the risk factor is a bit high, but if you are going to rent in Pattaya, budget isn't bad.

I've also used Budget @ Suvarnabhumi , Budget in Krabi, and Thai Rent-A-Car in Bangkok. Thai Rent-A-Car hold an older car in medium condition (there was a lack of power from the engine, straining to go over 80Kph) but the price was far cheaper. There's also a guy over the road from Residence Garden towards Jomtien as you head down the hill. It's a small shop on the right. Rented a Honda Civic from him and he was pretty good too, but holds your passport (the other guys don't).

I've used http://www.fastcarhire.co.uk/ a few times to book and they've done a good job. Thai Rent-A-Car and the guy on Thappraya Rd I went direct.

I hope the information is helpful.

I would be inclined to use the same international companies, including Avis.
