I always use Honest Custom Tailors.

They are located on soi 8, about 30 metres back from the beach road on the right hand side as you walk towards the beach road.

The young guy to speak to in there is called 'Boy'

Had a few suits from him both for me and the missus and they were all spot on.

Dunno if he's the cheapest but, I've always been happy with the quality.

MY OTHER HALF WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME GOOD OUTFITS MADE HERE,

As a bit of advice, make sure she brings some designs with her of what she wants...either photo, cut out from magazine or design....

Shop around, I think the quality is pretty much of a muchness, so its basically down to price. Used the one on the corner of SOI 8 (2nd road end) very good work.

I read somewhere that it doesn't matter- ALL the custom tailoring done in Pattaya is all from the same place! All the various shops send the orders to the same factory to be made.

I did have a good experience with CLIFF Tailors- near walking street on Beach Rd. It's down the smallish alley right next to the Starbucks (towards walking st.). They offered a fair price, GREAT quality, and fast fast fast service- only about 3 days.

Be sure, however, to make sure you're communicating well with the tailor. Make sure they have you come in for a few test fittings. Finally, make sure you pay the few extra baht to get a fully lined suit- I think all those great prices that they quote are for un-lined suits.

Here is how I have done it in the past and this method has served me well.

I have a suit made in my home country by a professional who specializes

in custom suits.

Then I take that suit with me to LOS. I choose the suit fabric, the lining

and the buttons at a local tailor in BKK or PTY.

I have them make an EXACT REPLICA of the suit I have brought with me.

Tell them to change NOTHING. Just make a copy.

Interesting idea. Has it worked? Was there an extra charge?

  • 2 years later...

Used this guy in July and the quality was fine, he was also the cheapest (by far) of the six or seven I asked for quotes from.

totally agree with the mook - take a suit from home that is the style and fit you feel comfortable with - then select a fabric from the best range the tailor has - ask for exact copy - agree price - sometimes its best not to bargain too much - perhaps ask for an extra pair of trousers for say an additional baht 300 - do the deal - pay a deposit of say 30% then go back for two fittings. worked for me for 18 years.

my most recent best taylor is "jans fashion" soi buakhow.

true - they do not make garments on the premises it is done in a factory - however in my experience the taylor shop quality does vary depending on how experienced the owner is and their relationship with the factory.

just my 2 pence worth

I thought most of the tailors were connected and sub-contracted the work to locals.

Well, yes and no. The sales, measuring, final fitting, and billing is done in the "tailor" shop. The actual clothes are made someplace else. Kind of like buying a car. 2guns
