areca lodge v dynasty inn

Recommended Posts

areca lodge would be a far better bargain with good pools and includes breakfast and 80 baht cheaper low season, i have heard good reports about dynasty inn though,

any views appreciated.

6 of one - half dozen of the other. They are both located in about the same area, both are girl friendly, and price is about the same. I have stayed at Dynasty Inn with no problems at all. Never stayed at Areca.

The only thing I could add here is that, depending on where you usually go when you go out, consider the problem of having to cross Second Road, which can be hazardous to your well-being.

I always stay in the Dynasty Inn never had a problem there and very guest friendly.

It has been posted on some boards that in Areca lodge they have to tip a lot and on some occasion have been changed for guest. But I am not sure if this is true?

PS: The pool sucks in the Dynasty it’s a large tub on the roof.

At the Areca the first girl gets in free. 500bt for each girl after that.

I've stayed at both and will stick with the Areca for two main reasons. Swimming pools are much better, and the buffet breakfast.

Though I do miss the walk-in showers at the DI.

Good point about construction noises. Was next door to DI visiting a friend and don't recall seeing any construction. Areca is a different story. They are starting to build the 3rd building located at the back of the second building. With the AC on I doubt I'd hear much banging in the future but here's a pic of the buildings progress as of Dec 1 2007.

Hmmm, well I'd post a picture of the foundation being built but seems no pics in this section, lol. Understandable.

OK, just picture in your mind that the foundation cement has been layed and there is a lot of rebar sticking up about 3 meters high for the bottom support pilars and the walls. :D

An update on prices at Dynasty Inn for anyone that is interested or has plans for booking in future. Information is available on their website anyway.

As of 16 October 2007 the standard room rate is 1480 baht/night while the superior room rate is 1680 baht/night. They have also introduced a high season rate in effect from 16 December through to 20 February where the standard room rate is 1680 baht/night while the superior room rate is 1880 baht/night.

I had a booking there for 2 weeks in December and was not going to stay once I found out the new rates but they offered to leave the room rate at 1280 baht/night for the duration of my stay as I had made the booking back in July.

While it is a nice hotel I do not think it is worth an extra 200 baht a night and will be looking for new hotel for future stays. I think Sandy Spring is OK as I had a quick look at the rooms in December but did not notice if there was in room safes.

If booked through Sawadee (www.sawadee.com) the prices are (valid until 1 november 2008):

1050 baht for standard room

1250 baht for superior room

Although there are many good hotels in Pattaya, at these rates I wouldn't even consider another hotel. Areca Lodge has, as mentioned before, 2 nice pools, location is good, good, clean spacious rooms and it's well managed and it is girlfriendly. It is, as you might have guessed, my choice of hotel when staying in Pattaya.

I have stayed at Areca Lodge and whilst it may be a good hotel there are too many family tourists and the staff are very unfriendly to the point where they made my regular TG feel very unwelcome.

Personally I think the Dynasty Inn is a very good hotel but not worth the new prices I posted above....

Dynasty Inn appear to be prepared to be a little flexible about prices, at least for a longer stay. I've booked a superior room for 30 nights in March/April at a rate of 1100 Bht per night. I usually stay at the Whitehouse almost next door but no discount available from them so they've lost my custom at least for this trip.

Doesn't seem to much info on the board about the superior rooms at the DI so I'd be grateful for any info BMs may have.

Reception told me that the only difference between superior room and standard room is the size of the room. I have stayed in room 607 (standard room) on most trips and have walked past room 601 (superior room) on the way to the lift when housekeeping was in there and it did not look any different to a standard room.

Can recommend Areca Lodge, stayed there last November, good rooms, in room safe, 2 super pools, breakfast included for 2 people (though only made it once due to very late nights). :finger

Found it girl friendly, no bad service toward my TG's. Don't know about charge for 2 girls, but had no problems with 1 girl picking up her ID before going for lunch and seeing her off, then returning to 'check' in another girl within 1 hour, no charge asked for though a few disapproving looks.

Tried to book again for next month but fully booked, so staying at Sabai Resort near Big C.

Al
