DOCTOR JUST MOVED TO PATTAYA NEEDING JOB

Recommended Posts

I need guidance and advice. A few months ago I decided to move to Thailand for the weather, culture and the people. I have decided to stay. Now I need a job. I need help!!!!

I possess a Phd in Counseling. I am a Board Certified Counselor with over 10 years experience. I have had my own practice for the past several years in the states.

I offered counseling services from a perspective which included a deeper consideration of the interaction between body, mind, and spirit. I counseled concerns with relationships, emotional or behavioral disorders, addictions, grief, spirituality, abuse and recovery, or career issues. I offered suggestions, guidance and advice to help patients determine exactly what they needed in order to once again have a healthy, positive outlook of their life and their future.

Have you been to talk to The Bangkok Pattaya Hospital? As it is the biggest in the region it would be a start. See if Dr Iain Corness will talk to you and advise.

Suggest your first patient - called drdaveperry - sure you know how to contact him.

Met him a couple weeks ago... Seems legit... Give him the benefit of the doubt, at least.

You dont always have to be an ass to new people, just because they are new.

Frosty

From what I understand, for a foreigner to be able to practice in any medical profession in Thailand requires a written exam in Thai for any license/certs to be accepted. I don't know if this extends to psychiatry or counseling though. Do you speak Thai, or are you aiming at a falang audience only?

You've got your work cut out for you in Pattaya! :D

First and foremost, thank you for the replies. I feel my efforts would be best suited aiming at a falang audience only.

You get your first session at a discount.

Firstly, you'll need a work permit. That means you'll have to find someone to employ you or set up your own business. To practice medicine I believe you have to take the corresponding Thai medical examinations, in Thai.

The Dr Olivier guy would be a good source of info.

This is OT, and no offense meant to Dr. Perry but at first I thought this thread was going to be about a medical doctor. I would be willing to pay triple the going rate in Thailand or even more for a good Western medical doctor. I don't know if it's legal or not but I think there's definitely a market for that.

Just go and see Dr Olivier.
