Buying and exporting a scooter

Hello everyone

Can anyone tell me if its possible to buy a scooter and export it to the UK ? Or are there lots of complications etc. I have made enquires from several Thai girls and found out that those Yamaha Fina scooters cost even at todays exchange rate roughly ££650. I would be interested and grateful for any information given.

I'm sure you could do it, but why would you want to? Don't they sell scooters in the UK? I imagine you'd pay one hell of a shipping charge for an individual scooter.

 

On the other hand, the people who import scooters to the UK probably do so by the container load.

I have looked into importing scooters and parts , the Import juty would kill all the profits

The Fino is so cool, I posted similar a while ago.

I am not sure why Yamaha don't import these scoots into the UK, Quadrophenia Mk 2

 

If you google retro scooters there are some Chinese ones in the £700 range. If you look at my last TR I have an image of a Hello Kitty version of the Fino.

I don't think the import juty (sic) is an issue, it sounds like it would be second hand and personal property, there would be no duty providing it was not new. Shipping costs would be the issue. Edited February 24, 2009 by jacko
