Just got e-mail from Qatar, there is an 8hr stop on way back but works out at £308.90 inc taxes

I checked my dates 24 June to 12 July and over £520 so my £409 booked with Eva still looking good.

Just tried link opens but doesnt show prices, not a techie so just look on Qatar site

When the Foreign Office is telling people not to travel to Bangkok then there is going to be some good prices coming up. Many people, maybe the majority, will have heard about the the recent trouble and just decide to go elsewhere. I would guess the people who have already been to Thailand will be more likely to put the recent trouble into perspective.

Cheaper airfares bring em on!

Qatar's schedule via Manchester need not include an 8 hour layover...... for £100 I wouldn't take it. Surprising though, I would have hung out a bit, sure something would have come up with Ethiad/Emirates/Qatar at a better price and the dreaded Heathrow could have been avoided. It normally means reduced taxes too.

Careful what you wish for. The airlines also have the option of completely dropping the schedule.

Jacko,

As an aside, I noticed that Qatar has the 777 scheduled on some of its BKK services. I believe that the seats in biz class are totally flat rather than the angled ones on the A330s.

That's interesting Tom, I saw the 777 scheduled too, and fares were looking 'a possible' for me. Aside... watching some sexually frustrated lady on the BBC and there was some discussion about wanting rather large (environmental) taxes on airtravel from the UK. $500 per biz class longhaul was mentioned.

That might get me grumpily squashed back in an economy seat gritting my teeth as the kid next to me hits his little table with his plastic truck!

They don't have that option, they have to keep flying the same times or they lose that route. This right?

More an issue on the Atlantic routes, particularly from Heathrow,

SQ - Singapore Airlines ex Manchester !
Only a couple of times per week and an early departure.

Not many bargains.

I think I might use them soon as biz class is moving out of range.

Make it quick as strong rumours circulating MAP - SQ will pull the service ex Manchester soon.

Yes, I heard that and hardly surprising. I think the flight used to go via Delhi once which kept me off it in those days. Edited by jacko

That's a shame but, as has been said, not really surprising.

The economy cabin on their 777 was, for me, the best that I have used on a long-haul flight.

:D

Just saw Netflights ad in Daily Mail showing Qatar flights to Bangkok for £299.I fly from Manchester so wasn't optimistic, but had a play around with dates, nothing in June but a flight ex Man on 29th May ret 18th June came up for £298!!

So even though I only got back from there 6 weeks ago, couldn't resist that price so have just booked it-never had a flight that cheap before, have flown with Qatar before and was fine-Doha was o.k..

Good flight times as well-well done to Qatar!!

What flight times have you got. I had a play around on Qatar's own site, albeit originating in BKK, and couldn't pin down a return with decent connections.

I may have another go in case they have released seats at the lower price on the decent connections.

Edit in:

Thanks Pauly, I owe you a beer. :devil Under 1,400 biz class does for me.

Tom, this print is a bit small to see, but looks like Ex Bangkok, at 71,600 baht Biz Class.

The connections in Doha look pretty good too.

All booked directly on the website?

Edit...

I just had a try for a September flight ex BKK. Best I could come up with was 75K+11.6 Taxes.....nearly £1700. Even then it is a restricted fare and you have to juggle dates to avoid the dreaded 8 hour layover.

Pauly77... wow, quite a bargain. You would expect the taxes to be that much!

Cheaper than a train ticket to London!
