Sorry if this has been posted before. I reckon it sums up the Thais attitude to safety. They dont give a sh*t. I wouldnt even say its dumb. Its like safety isnt even in the Thai phsyche

I still chuckle at an experience from some years back (another safety insight)

 

Driving up the old (pre swampy enhanced) motorway to BKK when traffic started to tail back

 

The ubiquitous accident was this time an overturned petrol tanker in the central divide. Much of it's contents were spilt into the recess of the area surrounding it. Another tanker had since been positioned adjacent to it on the opposite side of the motorway and many Thais were feverishly handballing the remaining petrol in buckets etc to the waiting tanker !!!

 

As I wondered to myself how many counties the UK police would shut down in similar circs I spotted the stalwart BIB some scant 50 meters upwind all having a cigarette break !!

It's only a smoke bomb. I'd imagine that the Thais knew this from the outset. But at least it didn't stop the media sucking in gullible Farangs.
