I'm on the flight in a few days and always fly direct with either Thai or EVA, however, too pricey for my dates and chose Gulf Air instead.

Has anyone flown this journey and if so what was their experience? I would also like to knowhow easy/far it is from departing in Bahriain to get to the departure gate for the second leg onto Bangkok.

Any info will be much appreciated (calling CheshireTom!!). :poke

Well if you fly in a few days it's a bit late to change but I fly my sons to LOS every year..In the past it has been Emirates or Thai. This year I saw a cheap Gulf flight so I booked having had excellent flights business class with them.

Well !! They said that both legs were aweful. Each stopover in Bahrain they were in the plane for over an hour waiting for pushback...On the way to LOS they actually had to change planes after boarding!!...I was at swampy with the missus for 6 HOURS waiting for them!! If I had 6 hours at a carpark at heathrow I have no idea how much it would cost but at Swampy it wasn't more than a few quid as I remember but it meant a lost night in BKK as far as they were concerned..

They said the food was inedible ( my sons normally eat anything!!) and service really shit...but as far as they were concerned no big deal..

A. Because they were in Thailand

B. Because I was paying!! :allright

Hi,

Flew with them last October. Not to bad, I just didn't like the wait inbetween flights. Although not to long (about 1:30) just nothing to do in the airport. My gates were no more than 10 minutes apart as the airport isn't that big. There are even a couple of smoking rooms for those that partake.

Flew with them from Heathrow this April/May.

Airport - fine, everything you'd expect and gates aren't a hike away from the shops/restaurants. They will take UK notes, but only give change in Bahrain Dinar - so make sure that you buy something that costs most of your note, or pay by card of course.

Planes - their new 777-300s are very nice, but one leg was on old Airbus 340, which was NOT nice. Seat pitch was just too short. No AVOD, only played things & the map wasn't working either. 4" screens too.

On return they lost an item of baggage which was a first for me (though it could have been Heathrow or 'poom at fault). It turned up a day later in good condition, so no real complaint there.

I'd use them again without qualms.

Thanks for the replies guys, really helpful.

just one thing and thsi may sound a bit thick, but when you get off in Bahrian where exactly do you go, is there a sign directing you to forwarding flights or should I just follow the nearest person who I think is BKK bound??

I used Gulf Air in June/August and November last year and all flights were OK and most

inportant on time, so i cannot fault them for the cheap prices that i paid.

When you get to Bahrain just follow the Transfer or Transit signs, then go through the

Security checks then up the lift to Departure lounge check the Television for your onward

departure gate and that's it so simple.

Dead simple, great re assuring reply.

I'm actually looking forward to having a halfway stop and arrival time in BKK of 0750 is pretty good too.

Thank You.

Used them two weeks ago mainly due to a great price for early August (£393) and the evening dep UK and retn arr Sun pm timings.

Picked up a good DVD player in Bahrain for £8. Got an upgrade to Bus. for outward Hrow leg. Movies so-so, food below av. I like to break the journey and of course you're ticketed through when you leave UK so you have all info with you, just look at the monitors in Bahrain.

I've no recent experience of them and taking into account the airmiles, the price would have to be pretty special for me to consider them over any of the "Big 3" Gulf carriers.
