rising sun guesthouse/bar

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed at the rising sun bar/guesthouse in soi yamato recently? Any other suggetions for cheap monthly accommodation in the area are also welcome.

There is a thread about this place but it's from 2002 and doesn't sound too good :chogdee i thought maybe they have improved a thig or two since then. I like the location and the price. the one little picture i saw from the room didnt seem bad but a stinking room is the last thing i want i couldn''t sleep there even if i got payed for it 2guns .

I have never stayed there but I understand that the rooms are a bit old in decor, but probably clean.

There is a sign behind the bar, "No lady men allowed in the rooms" that made me laugh.

Good location, many farang bars nearby, book into the Rising sun and if you are not happy look for somewhere else, the bar owners close by will give you some good info.

I booked it for a month 5 years ago, took one look at the room and left (paid for one night but did not sleep there)

It might have improved??

But I would check before paying for it

Be Nice

Thanks guys

:allright I have no idea how these people stay in business, unbelievable. There is no one who has a single good word for this place lol

Let's be honest decorating a room to a decent level doesn't cost shit but still almost no guesthouse and most of the hotels in pattaya look like shit. Hotels i understand they start with good rooms and after years it will cost them a lot to renew 100 rooms. but keeping a few rooms clean and decent doesnt cost much :D

But i still prefer decent guesthouses over big hotels".

Onetrue...he is unsociable and starts a bar!!

thnaks again, I will check it out anyway to be sure wether it is such a shithole..or not lol

The owner is the most unsociable person i have ever come across. Dont know fuck all about the rooms though, sorry.

Rising sun was* my "home team" for the friday night mickey mouse Dart league, Steve (the owner) has the personality of a house brick, he is getting better though (slightly)..........as for the rooms, never seen them but if the standard of the rest of the place is anything to go by i would give them a miss.

*Not playing anymore, Due to work commitments.

The bar always seemed dead apart from if there was a darts night on, seldom seen anyone drinking in there the whole of Nov. He must just be surviving on his rooms, i know he was fully booked over the xmas period so it maybe picked up for him.

There are many nice Guesthouses in the LK Metro Area which is only ten minute walk away and they are not pricey. The Irish Rovers, The Rockhouse, The kilkenny and many more.

bigone i didn't say i'm gonna stay there :allright it really makes me laugh to read how everybody hates this place and i wanna see it. I have never seen bad reactions to a guesthouse/hotel this severe. Not a soul who doesnt hate this place :ang2

And onetrue, being fully booked on xmas isn't that hard, i doubt if many people stay there the rest of the year.

Let's be honest, in pattaya most budget accommodations are shit holes and most people seem to be happy staying in these rooms, and that makes me wonder how bad this place must be to even annoy the pattaya visitors lol

greetings lol

Agreed, everywhere is booked at xmas being high season, i'd imagine it will have quietened down again which makes you wonder how he can survive with no customers in the bar.

Anyway not my problem, good luck wherever you end up.

If you look at my reply I did not say that "I hate it"

I said I took one look at the room and left. The reason was it was dirty with a smelly carpet :moon

I had no wish to spend 4 weeks of my life there

Having said that I have been going to Pattaya since 1992 and have stayed in a hotel onlyfive times, the rest have been in a "guest house" all of which have been great with big rooms, TV, DVD, Air-con, fridge, Tea/coffee and balcony all of the toys except a swimming pool.

I think that most Guest -houses offer a great service at a good price :D

Be Nice

  • 2 weeks later...

I stayed there last week for two nights and that would be the max I would stay there springs coming through the mattress not the cleanest of places and where they get the photos for their web site from Christ only knows but all that I wanted was a place to lay my head (on a clean towel that I took with me) also second night was noisy from outside till 3:30am not their fault but girls chattering outside and having a drink.

At 450thb you dont expect a lot but not a place I would take the wife

Oh the reason I stayed there was because two other mates were staying there and it was easy - their rooms were no better by the way
