Let me clarify. 20k is a hell of a lot for a village girl. 20k is a hell of a lot for a city girl. If you want the best advice then it may be an idea to give all the facts otherwise we are only guessing and could steer you the wrong way.

IMHO, which admittedly is worth very little, I would think you are being played. Tread carefully friend.

That makes more sense, she is the youngest daughter, and the oldest.... the only one! Yes generally it is expected that she takes care of her parents.

The brothers are expected to take care of their own families.

The 20k goes to the girlfriend's account?..... do you know what happens to it after that?

Your only option is to put forward the circumstances.... that she can come to the UK and live with you, and you will ensure xxx baht is available for her family. You can also explain that she can get work in the UK and supplement this. Also offer regular trips back for her, annual or bi-annual.

The veiled threat that you may 'move on' could make her think hard, but you are asking a lot of her.

I don't recommend bringing the mother to the UK at all. (This comment is perhaps more applicable to my circumstances, I would rather have a rabid Rottweiler in the house and I hate dogs... )

Thanks, I like the idea and also what fondles suggested like a home help-sorted.

Can shee break free or will the family wise up?

Well, that is easy. She WILL NOT break free. There are almost no exceptions. Thais, particularly women, do not ever leave their families. Do not count on this at all, there is almost no chance you'll see it.

And what jacko said, in general. Taking the mother to the UK is the worst idea in the thread.

Spoke with her last night abiout family and she kept saying my family important and I was getting more and more pissed off thinking you were right but then she qualified what she was saying-my family, you me and baby. What baby? The baby we have, family. Wow maybe there is hope yet.

No, no baby, future baby, that is why no mention.

Talked more now, she will still have a problem with family and doesn't know how to placate them, but she wants to break free.
