It's all over red rover. Lucky Spain and unlucky Holland. Neither of those great teams deserved to win or to loose this final.

Goddam fish thieves won it :D

Grilled octopus, anyone?

To be honest, I feel the same way. World cup finals are seldom the best of games with so much at stake. Lady Luck was on Spain's side and they did not really deserve to win this World cup. They were a much better side when they won Euro 2008. A lot of the super stars did not reach their full potential. Holland would have won tonight, if van Robben and Snyder would have played their normal game.

I hope never to hear another stadium full of vuvuzelas again.

sour grapes, eh gonzo?

No sour grapes, mate. I did not have a wager on this match and I did not support either team. I sat up all night to watch a good game. I have not missed watching one Soccer World cup final since 1954, when West Germany beat Hungary 3:2 in Switzerland. I barrack for German and Australian sporting teams or competitors. I have just watched the highlights of the Formula 1 race, which was won by an Australian with a German second. Formula 1racing is exciting and Nascar racing is less exciting for me, as I don't follow Nascar racing a great deal. Go back to watching replays of the Bluejays in Toronto and wash out your mouth with soap. :allright

agreed,

I hope FIFA ban vuvuzelas from all stadiums ..... ruined the world cup ... I had the sound turned down low in most games

. However, having backed Spain in the European Championship I have to stick with them.

Hi,

I'm not always wrong, :allright

I stopped watching pro baseball more than 15 years ago.

NFL Football and Football are pretty much all I watch

on the tube. But MLS isn't as good as in the Euro leagues

occasionally shown here. Sometimes I turn on a little puck, too.

And by the way, Spain earned that victory... :allright

Hi,

Surely you are joking? As a regular at the old De Meer I can't understand how a great football nation like Holland put out a team to kick their way to World Cup victory. Dutch supporters like good football. Expect a clear out of management!

Poor tournament. The vuvuzelas ruined the atmosphere and made me stop listening to some games. Mant teams were lethargic. I guess the altitude, or genereal SA , was crap, or maybe the lack of audible support and just the drone. Might try to go to Brazil for the next tourney. It's a definate once in a lifetime experience to see the world cup in Brazil.

Agree, not a wonderfull game to watch, but if they deserved it or not, I will have a hangover for three days. Although, this was a dutch team from beginning to end. Band of brothers.

I'm also a fan of F1, thrilling!

If you go, you can borrow my England flag ! :allright

Or have you already adopted a team to support ?

If it was such a poor tournament, why did most of the world stand still and watch it. Even the majority of of the many negative thinkers on this board were mesmerized and nothing else mattered for a whole month. Poor Nadal :allright won Wimbledon and no-one noticed. Webber had another win in Formula 1 racing yesterday and no-one noticed. New Zealand played a fantastic game against the South African Rugby League team in the Tri Nations cup and no-one noticed. Cadel Evans has managed to grab the yellow guernsey and Lance Armstrong, a 7 times winner of the Tour de France had a bad crash and no-one took much notice. The octopus got more attention from the media than the financial crisis and the political problems all over the world. I tell you why. Soccer is a de facto religion for most of us. If a country wins a Wordl cup it will be remembered forever, no matter how that win was achieved.

Hi,

What a load of rubbish!

Would you care to explain yourself in detail, instead of replying by grunting with a silly one-liner? :beer

Howard Webb is a worry in that respect as he allowed Swiss to kick Spain off the park.

Hi,

I think in general the South African World Cup has been a success. Lots of negative media in UK prior to the event but it all went fairly smoothly. Blatter has his critics but he knows how to network and get things done. Ghana proved best of the Africans and if they maintain their progress they are credible contestants for the big prize in future. Uruguay also played well and Forlan was different class. What happened him at Man Utd ? The final was a severe letdown but I'm glad that Cruyff slammed the Dutch for their attitude in the final. As the best player to wear the orange shirt and one of the top 5 ever IMO he was entitled to his opinion. And I am entitled to mine though I struggle to get it voiced sometimes in the mainstream media. Too much truth is never welcome.

If the Dutch played like that against Spain. What would a game against Germany have been like ? :D

Dirtiest team I've seen, since Paul Ince brought the MK Dons to Griffin Park this year. :beer :D

The German side fucked up big time, when they lost against Spain 1:0. I think a win against the Dutch in the final would have been doable. :D

Hi,

Good point. I dont think you will ever see Holland play like that again. Sure there will be big changes in Netherlands.
