chris,

if you are streaming,i assume you know that when the world cup starts there will be millions doing the same which could slow the streaming. Also if your broadband slows down due to many in Pattaya watching the matches via pc,that will slow down the stream.

If he's streaming the other games will be okay but Englands games will be snails pace as they WILL be the most watched games on the net guaranteed.

It is streaming BUT it is a direct private stream only to me and no other viewers. It's no secret, we use a combination of Slingbox in the UK and Slingcatcher here in Thailand. Our internet connection is costing a fortune to try and get a good download speed from the UK.

So far we have not had one single stutter or slow down in days of testing. Strange watching Dr Who live at about 1am.

Regards

Slingbox works. It REALLY works.

But Chris, what you're missing here, your Slingbox is not "a private stream" at all. It works over your Internet connection which is DSL which is shared. There are several funnels involved between you and the UK. During a busy period, you may not get enough of the connection speed. Or you may get it. There are several things that may slow you down - basically, time of day and how many others want to use the Internet at that moment.

My bet is that it will work for you. But it may not. Keep a TV set nearby just in case. Good luck.

How much are barfines?

Two answers

The internet connection is very expensive because we have a very low contention. SO here's hoping it can keep the speed up with the high demand during the world cup.

Barfines are 250 baht short time (includes free room!!)

Or 300 baht long time (if the lady leaves the bar)

Chris,

Two things -

Now that the matches have started, what is the feedback on speed?

The link in your original post doesn't work. It's adding '&quot' (getting prefix'ed and suffix'ed) to the actual URL of the bar's webpage.

We are very pleased with the quality of the matches tonight. Watched both matches. One on ITV the other on BBC 1, neither match had any problems, never froze or stuttered once.

The correct web address for our bar is:

http://www.drunks-and-dare-a-licks.com/

Thanks for the heads up about the incorrect previouse post.

Chris ,

Do you show the build up aswell?

Just setting up the air-con lounge today to show the matches on the projection TV, It will be turned on all the time with the original sound. As long as the TV station shows the build up then so will we. As the programmes start half hour before the match I presume you will get all the pre-match discussion etc. Also good to have the half time discussions in English.

The main bar (not air-con) will have the sound on for the match only, unless the customers request otherwise!

The customer is always right!
