The Ashes series starts tomorrow

South Africa right now are is having a hard time in their test series against India, thanks to their best players representing England. This is not an excuse for Australia's poor performance against the Poms, just an observation. :thumbup

Chin up guys, Simon Whitlock is doing ok in the PDC world darts. It's only a matter of time before he will be champ and world no1 ranked. He's no4 already. Real talent to watch his checkouts are amazing.

And there was me with with a hangover, feeling sorry for myself and the state of Aussie cricket. You are in the horrors, mate. I reckon I would beat you at darts anytime and anywhere. :clap1

Now, here is a man, who makes a lot of sense. :clap1

Well, the Ashes are gone again for Australia, but the sun comes up tomorrow, and with it perhaps a new era for Australian cricket. There certainly needs to be some changes, just how many will be the subject of much debate over the next couple of days. Well played England, worked for it hard and reaped the rewards, time for Australia to take a leaf out of your book again. Thanks everyone for the last few days, been a lot of fun with some spirited debate thrown in. We're doing it all again in Sydney from Monday, so join us for all the action. Cheers everyone.

And I almost forgot. Congratulations to England for retaining the Ashes. Great team and a great performance. :whistling:

Yes, congrats to England, good performance except for the Third Test.

Well done Gonzo for being sporting about the defeat, unlike a certain captain.

England beat Australia by an innings and 157 runs

If this had been a boxing match the promoter would probably be charged with homicide.

It is nice to think there is a sport we can exceed at at times.

Wow....that was a fair hiding.

The Perth Test was so long ago now.....lol.....and how did we win that one?

Congratulations to the England team......a great performance here on our soil. I know Trott was 'Man of the Match'....but how good is Tremlin....he is only going to get better and I am prepared to say he will be England's spearhead srike bowler in the years to come. He has the perfect build and action for a fast bowler......he is awesome!

As for the Aussies......where to now?

I firmly believe that that is the best team we have at the moment. People calling for wholesale changes ....and sacking Ponting obviously know very little about the domestic Shield Competition.

There is no youngsters really performing consistantly that could do a better job imho.

We must stick with what we have.....they have performed in the past.....but are just not consistant enough. Ponting is the best Captain we have. He is finding it hard to bat at the moment with all the knives in his back.

We are so used to winning.......we quickly call for changes and calls to sack the Captain.....especially the media. We must accept that we are going through a re-building phase....and that we will lose a few Tests along the way. It is just history repeating itself if you care to look.

I think we should stick with basically the same team.....and get behind Ponting and show him some support. His record and stats are exceptional......I am appalled at the way he is being treated.

It is very un-Australian.

I have the wallet back, but I will never drink again. I woke up with the worst hangover ever and stayed in bed for most of the day feeling as crook as a dog. Going on a bender for three days with a couple of piss heads, drinking and watching the cricket was not such a good idea. It will be Nam soda only for the Sydney test. rolleyes:

Poor old Ricky Ponting.

He could probably eat as many vindaloos as he wanted and still not get the runs.

Ricky Ponting has been invited to appear on ‘Ready Steady Cook,’ as it’s believed he can make a meal out of practically anything.

Ricky Ponting walks into a library and asks for a book on The Ashes. The Librarian says; "Fuck off, mate. You won't bring 'em back!"

Apparently on winning the toss Strauss said to Ponting "You can bat", to which Ricky replied "No we can't" !

What's the difference between Ricky Ponting and my sweaty pants?

Sweaty pants will stick at the crease all day.

Statisically, 9/10 of the world's complaints are made by Ricky Ponting.

Bret Lee in a wig, why you think he gave up playing for the losers?

A good solid start by the Aussie openers in Sydney with our boys electing to bat first. A 50 partnership for the loss of no wicket. A nice change from what happened in the first innings in Melbourne. :whistling:
