While I was in Pattaya this last trip and now just today I am getting this error message. It reads "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to shut down". Has anyone had this problem? and if so, how was it resolved.
Jeez, do I? You sort of have to figure out what sequence of events causes the problem and basically stop doing that!

In my case it seems to be a mix of plugging/ unplugging USB mouse and ethernet, then the power..... generally I want to move the laptop. By the time I reach my desired move I have the blue screen of death!

They claim it is caused by insufficient memory (too many programs running concurrently) or a driver problem.

My computer always restarts normally after I shut it down, with the usual 'Windows recovered from a fatal error' message.

You seem to have had few problems and I wouldn't recommend wasting time and effort pursuing this unless the incidence increases. The Google suggested fixes are way too involved and serious for me, or just want to sell me something.

I think you really like dancing with ugly women, lol

Well, I don't like dancing as much as you. I asked what the messages said. They did NOT say only ""Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to shut down". They said "Microsoft (name of software) has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" where (name of software) is probably important in several way including getting it to stop.

jacko gets back to where he was after a few minutes of rebooting and restarting his programs. That's one way to do it. Maybe upgrading or even downgrading the problem software would do it. And indeed it could be quite involved. But whatever it is, there *IS* help available if you get off the dance floor for a few minutes.

I wish, not quite, as it is often in the middle of typing a chatty message that my back starts to ache and I unplug the laptop to move! Edited by jacko

The entire Skype system went down so don't screw something up trying to fix it.

You take yourself way too seriously, you have issues and this is nothing new as it dates back a couple of years. If you don't like answering in a civil way, move on and ignore.

Maybe the chronic outages occurring today have caused one of the MS services to fall over as it keeps trying to connect to Skype.

The little icon shows Skype trying to connect continuously and there are issues on your system this may send the MS service into a loop and make it fall over.

Hopefully when Skype gets back to normal, and I've been using in the last few hours OK, the problem will rectify itself if it hasn't now caused a permanent problem,

I come to the forum here to peruse interesting and informative topics, and occasionally ask questions. You on the other hand seem to enjoy bloviating and don't appear to have much of a life outside of it, which is quite apparent here. I do appreciate some of your feedback on this subject, but the arrogant manner in which you reply is distasteful. "Mai pen rai"
