Today i called around to get a direct flight for May when contacting Flight Centre i was quoted £565 i informed them i had already been quoted a lower price

so no thanks they asked me the cheapest price i had been offered i told them they said could i hold on for a minute and they would check the website of the

companywho offered me this price and they would beat it.A minute later she got back to me and they duly delivered by getting me a cheaper

flight, apparently they have been doing this for some time.

I have to say when I went to use them there service was shit.

They were meant to call be back 5 times to give me a quote.

I then emailed to complain and got a message back from a top bod saying sorry and we will knock £50 off.

By the time I had received the email I had booked else where so I asked if I could use for next trip and got a reply saying it would be valid for 12 months.

I then emailed the top bod with less than 1 month to go saying I would like a price I got an email back saying he works in a different area and basically calling me a cheeky fucker to say about the £50 discount. I replied back saying it clearly states in your email about the 12 months validation and that's the last I heard from them they never thought about replying.

I use West East travel always had a good service from them

How much did they beat it by?

I'd like too know that too. If it was only £5 or £10 I'd prefer to book with the site that advertised the price not one who advertises/quotes higher but will match someone else's price to get the business,

Glyn.

Thats exactly what they do and then beat it by 20 dollars while they rob the mugs with higher prices than elsewhere.

I don't agree with giving companies the option of beating your best price. Before I started only using the internet for my flights I would contact a travel agent and tell them I am shopping around for the best deal and can they give me their price. I would then pick whichever company gave me the best flight option for the best price.

This is the same thing I do whether I am buying cars, furniture or electrical appliances. I have had companies that offer me a deal and then ask me what I think of the price. I tell them that someone else has offered a cheaper price. They then say they can come down lower but I tell them they only had once chance and they missed out. Some places get a bit stroppy when told this.

We can beat any price...

Bit of a catch all phrase like 'best pizza in town'....

Another company makes the effort to keep it's prices down and get you a good deal, then you scoop it off them by knocking a quid off, making little effort yourself. Thereby cutting out the best competition.

I would like to see how their prices looked prior to you saying 'I can get it cheaper elsewhere'.... obviously not so good!

The very moment you want something a little out of the ordinary they are fucking useless. I had one girl tell me it would b,e easier if you didn't go via Balikpapan but I can do you a deal to Sabah instead, which the main reason for the trip. So I told her I wouldn't be be needing their services any longer and her supervisor rang me back saying I had wasted their time and upset the girl . I basically told him the problem and he apologised but said they are trained to on sell products and she had never heard of the Indonesian side of Borneo. I suggested he buy a fucking atlas.

He said originality £565 down to £538

Presume it was £540 and they knocked a couple of quid off, personally I agree with thegrogmonster I would have told them as it was only a couple of quid I will use the other company.

To each their own.

Requesting several quotes doesnt mean you are getting the best price because you still have no idea what the mark up of the lowest offer is. Just let them compete the shit out of each other.
