Went to the German Dentist yesterday and was told I need root canal treatment and a cap on one of my rear upper molars. Reason is the tooth has died. Would appreciate feed back on what the likely cost should be and how long the treatment (several visits?) should take. I discussed it with the dentist and she seemed to saying it will take several weeks from start to finish. Thanks SNN

Depends upon where you go for root canal and what type of crown you get.

If you find a dentist that can do root canals and also offers CAD/CAM crowns you

would be there for one visit and done in about 3-4 hours....

Minimum 2 visits and approx 5 days.

First visit is to have the root canal done , then allow a minumum of 3 day but even as much as 7 days for the swelling to go down and then go back and get a crown put on.

The cost depends on the type of crown you want.

It can be a bit of a pain as you are on pain killers for 2-3 days and you shouldn't drink.

I have had 18 crowns done and 6 of them required root channels, all done at Pattaya Inter Hospital Dental Clinic now on 9th floor of PIC.

as stated before if a root channel is required it takes a minimum of 2 visits, this depends on how well treatment takes and if the medication that is put into the root "kills" all of the nerve and can be scraped out on the second visit, you should also be put on antibiotics during this period in case of infection and yes it is between 5-10days between visit for the meds to work and swelling to go down.

Crowns vary in price depending on the amount of gold you want in them, but seeing its a moler and not a "visible" tooth you will want to go with the one with metal instead of gold as the medtal ones are stronger but have a duller look.

Crowns at PIC range from 8-12K TB

Root Channels are 8k TB (can be up to 4 per tooth although usually only one)

and then ex rays (2-3) are 120 TB each and they charge a 120TB fee for every visit (hospital charge)

Full mouth cleaning is 2k and if you need a Medical Certificate for insurance it is 100 TB, so 20k or less is an accurate ball park figure.

I used the dental clinic across from Tropical Bert's on 2nd Rd and soi 6/1. Excellent work and my local Dentist thought the work was first rate and was amazed at the price.

Well it sounds like the same place I use.....Art of Smile....

A crown I had done there a few years back there is giving me problems...

I went back and that dentist has moved on, the replacement did a good job whipping out a bad wisdom tooth.

As to OP , the crown required just two visits, prep and temporary and back for the fitting a week later. Sorry, didn't ned the root doing.
