Can you still live on 30 grand a year in Pattaya ?

Recommended Posts

I now live upcountry and just increased my wife's housekeeping budget from 25,000 to 30,000 baht per month. She pays for everything including my clothes and cigarettes.

The OP was talking about Pattaya not upcountry, just the rent on my house+utility bills exceeds your entire monthly budget.

On the other hand, my step father lives in Chanthaburi, his house is far superior to mine, his costs 3900b per month.

You are guys are way off track here.

With all due respect I dont care about the Average Thai"s and or the scum Thai hooker Boyfriend.

On another note::: Whom am I pissing off that has so much money that 30 grand a year is an Insult ???

If you have so much cash what the fuck are you on here bitching and crying about ? Why arent you in Florida on a private yacht with your smokin hot Columbian girls ???

It never suprises me where some of these posters come from ?

Back to subject.

To make it on 30 grand a year seems pretty in check ? Its always nice when BM whom live in Pattaya come on here and break-down their monthly expenses.

Thanks guys. Ps to the rich asshole that has so much money he wipes his ass with hundred dollar bills. Go Fuck yourself.

i just read this and was a little put out. i think you need to re-read the submissions in this thread. they've all been helpful or at least well meant as far as i can see. i share responsibility for taking things slightly off-track......that often happens in a thread though and your question was still central to the discussion.

i think you may have just misunderstood someone. point out the guilty person here.

I have to agree with the OP. The topic seemed to have changed to what most think that Thai's are paying for pussy. None of us are Thai, and is wasn't the topic, what does it matter? I think that he wants to know if he can like here on $30k Answer, yes. Although many of us find it hard to do so. As I said several pages back. The Thai government requires 800,000 baht a year to have a retirement visa. They must figure that a farang can live on that amount, with out becoming a burden to the country.

In my case rent has nothing to do with it. I pay no rent in Jomtien and no rent upcountry. Electricity cost are exactly the same and food costs are very similar at the fresh markets. Discretionary expenses are where the big differences are. If you want to live in a mansion, it's up to you. You are paying for it. Most of us, including myself are perfectly happy in a much more conservative place. My wife cleans our house and there is no maid. With just the two of us, if she demanded a maid, I'd look for a new wife. Another thing different than some people is that I live to suit myself and don't have to impress anyone.

ok so your monthly runs to 30k up country, this does not include big ticket items/insurance policies/occasional road trips and "socialising monies".

Add to your 30k a month Rent/big ticket items/insurance policies/occasional road trips and "socialising monies" your well up around 75,000 a month in Pattaya......... as I said in my first post, USD 30k is definitely doable, for some.

I think you will find the Thai Govt doesnt require 800,000bt 'A YEAR'.

They require that you have a minimum 800,000bt balance in your Thai account.

And that halves to 400,000bt if your married to a local.

So we are all wrong and you are right...

It is hard for me to say how much I need per month. Months vary a great deal. But 70k baht might be an average, not including flights and outings.

Actually I use 100 Euro notes as they are worth more and the paper is softer.....
