Seeing the food carts parked outside all night behind my hotel puts me off eating from them. Do you think that the Thai's will unload the cart's food into a refrigerator overnight or throw food away that is unsold from day before?

Having said that I do eat BBQ chicken from the carts when drunk without ill effects so far, but the kebabs always gives the runs.

You get called jackoff quite regularly, do ya? A smarter man might take the hint....
Yeah by people who cleverly add a letter or 2 to my handle. Real Einstein stuff....

Are you known as Aliass for example...

And pathetic Tom is still scratching around and poking his drippy nose in looking for an argument to play with I see. Sad, lame, and other Big D words. :allright

Back to the OP... It is safe to buy food from foodstands in PattayA......... but not to eat it. :D

I did get a dicky stomach once from food served up on the beach, Jomtiem near the police box. But I also had many great meals without incident, an old lady whipped them up in a wok in a shack behind. Superb Penang moo (pork in a rich coconut milk curry)... with fried rice very good. As mentioned many 'restaurants' are just a few tables and chairs around a stand. I am cautious regarding eating, and usually would not late in the evening beyond BBQ, I worry stuff has been sitting around a long time. Thailand is famous for it's food, and it must be savoured.

Why the personal attack? I simply highlighted that the OP asked about sit-down eateries as well as food-carts.

Or, as you would say ... "You made a silly irrelevant post and I called you on it... just a little nose tweak.

You got shitty.....and foul mouthed..."

I've never got sick from street food in Pattaya, sadly can't say the same about restaurants.

My theory why street food may actually be less risky is that most of the flesh sold on stick were alive less than 24h ago.

Many restaurants get their proteins from second or third hand after butcher (wholesale business, shop and delivery). Cold chain may broke at some point. Also restaurants don't order proteins daily, so it is not as fresh as street food.

I don't like to eat beef in Thailand, unless it's imported. Thais don't hang their beef, so it can be very chewy.

As for burgers, i would never eat one off the cart, ground beef goes bad really fast in wrong temperatures.

It is my first trip to Thailand and am wondering if it is safe to buy food from foodstands in pattaya? Or, is it safer to go to a restauarant with seating in it? I had a friend who went there last year and had no problems with his stomach but am just wondeing if anyone else had suggestions or opinions?

a few things to keep in mind: First, observe where the Thais eat. they know the good places. If you see a line that means quick turn over so its usualy fresher and safe.If you had not tried a place yet a safe approach is dont eat to much on the first try. that way if it doesnt agree with you, youll be able to recover faster and wont get as sick, Im a street food addict and I only got sick once and that was from freid chicken in Bk on Khaosen rd. I lost about 3.5 days of my vac because of it. the food was sitting for a while and I should have known better.
