:whistling: :whistling: :whistling: in his day, :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

in his day scholes could pass a long ball and land it on a sixpence, but he has always had a dark side of cheating when things dont go his way. ask Mr Zabaleta. ask the almost 100 refs that have had to red/yellow dard him (a trait that fits in well with Man u team ethos IMHO ) and that precludes him from having class. i continue to guffaw.

:grin-jump :grin-jump have you got any more good one liners. :grin-jump :grin-jump

Nearly as funny as Brit announcers trying to describe American football.

If you don't know the game, you don't notice how newbie commentators handle it.

One that still grates and makes me wince after 40-plus years is how US hockey announcers refer to "throwing" the puck forward across the blue line.

This doesn't mean they are "wrong" (except in a technical sense of course since it's illegal to throw the puck) - but they definitely are not following the old, established announcer's handbook. In one way, new references are refreshing; in another they grate. The very best announcers (not you, Coleman) *DO* make up new terms.

Nothing to do with football mate...the geezers with the great big fluffy hats on are guards..the short fat bastards in the Tower of London are beefeaters.....Sorry to have sounded so critical..
