Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I am not sure where this topic should be but I will start it here.

I am always interested in what members think of their Pattaya accommodation. It does seem to me however that the "Accommodation" section is not worth reading as its so old and out of date. A suggestion would be to clean it out (seems to be the time for change) and start again.

The format is I believe outdated and also needs a fresh look.

Is the any support for this? Would you support it?

I also think that there is even a case to be made for say a quick response format as well as a fulsome response. Just boxes to tick and questions on cleanliness, attitude, joiner fees, facilities, problems, compliments etc.

Bottom line for me is that this is a resource that I don't use on this board which is a bit of a shame as it is such an important part of any trip. We also know that accommodation can change quite quickly if there are new owners/management.

I know i used them quite a bit when i first started however they are now so outdated, I think it was a great feature of the board that has died away. I know there is nothing stopping me from just doing a review however its hardly worth it as id could update 8-9 hotels but the majority of places reveiews are 5+ years old. Id be happy to contribute to get this feature up and running

totally agree. I read many of the hotel reviews, especially when getting close to trip time. Its a great resource. Updated to say the last 12 months would increase relevancy re pricing, quality , facilities etc.

The board seems to have substituted the hotel questions and comments for more real time info but I do enjoy reading what people thought of of hotels during the Nixon administration.

MM is right if nobody contributes new reviews it withers on the vine.

Tripadvisor and Agoda etc., Asiatravel have a lot of reviews.

Rick, your right in that Agoda and Tripadvisor have good reviews however the point is that this is a resource of this board and I just don't use it for the reasons that I and others have outlined.

When do you last post a review. I have to admit I haven't so I bet there are a lot of guilty.

I wouldn't be too trusting of the reviews on Agoda.

I know for a fact that they edit some of the less flattering ones!

Tripadvisor doesn't seem to, to the point that the management replies to the less flattering ones. Not sure of the coverage of all the hotels in Pattaya but probably more than Agoda since Agoda only has listings and comments for hotels they sell.

Trip Advisor is good but it tip toes around the mongering aspect, it doesnt always adress joiner fee, joineer fee for number of girls etc , you have to read between the lines

Just a suggestion MM. You have pinned topics. Why not add one to trip reports asking for hotel reviews under that section. Most hotel reviews that I see are in trip reports. It's not easy to look up from trip reports. Even if I tried to look, I'd get sidetracked by pictures and forget what I was looking for LOL

Interesting point in that I do PM people who submit trip reports and ask them where they stayed if the places sound interesting. I did this twice in the last month and was pleased with the responses from the guys.

Back to Martins point about making reviews. My comment to this is that the whole area needs a tidy up and a clean out of say all reviews over 12 months old.

12 months might be too short, but something like 12 months or 24 months. Some categories (eg high end Pattaya places) don't have any reviews since 2009...
