Currently in Thai or company name?

I bet dozens of BMs are looking for a house that costs $1.2 Million US.

Yes and no pool. The land area (1228 m2, or 3/4 rai) is enough to build a condo on.

Looks like a pretty nice pad but I can't figure out for the life of me why anybody would spend that kind of money for a house in a country where you could lose it all in a blink of an eye! I would never invest in a country where you can't even legally own the land.

Why that? Do you know of any real case? Links?

There's a thread running about the Irish geezer at the moment.

As for the use of nominees to control a company, even Pepsico has come a cropper recently.

It could happen anywhere in the world !

Do you mean that in UK or USA there is no case of 'organized criminals',

or dishonest attorney, or "wife" who stole some good people possession ?

Do you think its safer to keep our money in an USA renowned bank,

like the Bernard Madoff one by example... :whistling:

You have swindler/thieves everywhere...

You have swindler/thieves everywhere...

And there are many countries that allow a foreigner to own land outright.

And others where lawyers are there to protect you.

And where your kids are not thrown in wells.

The original comment was that $1,200,000 was a lot of money for a foreigner to risk particularly in a country where he/she can never have title to the land, and where the corruption index is worse than India and Panama.

$1million+ for a house in Thailand? And it's not even located directly looking out to a beach/ocean? You've got to be crazy to pay that asking price. Whoever the owner is must think foreigners are REALLY stupid and rich. I think that price will come back down to a more reasonable 2-3 million baht if the seller is serious and not looking for a scam. The whole cannot own land thing is enough to stop me from ever trying to buy a house in Thailand, if you can lose it to some Thai you WILL lose it to some Thai. Anything that CAN go wrong WILL go wrong. I may however consider buying a condo that you can own 100% of.

wouldnt pay that for a house thats overlooked by apartments from every angle.(or at least thats what it looks like from the photo)
