I just checked Malaysian for airfares from Perth (Nnov) as they have specials over here for $530, but once doing the pretend booking that price does not included taxes and it is more like $900 return. No thanks rather pay a little bit extra and fly Thai direct.

I think from sydney there is also a 90 min stopover in Bris that wasn't listed on my ticket when i took this flight around 18 months ago.

On the way back it was straight to Sydney from KL. The 6 hour stopover in KL was painful, it was during the early hours of the morning when all the shops/restaurants in the airport were closed.

But it was cheap.

jetradar.com is the only place I go to search flights now, after consistently finding them to find the best deals. They don't 'promote' any particular airline, but are totally transparent, plus they include the extra fees and taxes that you know you have to pay but many other 'comparison' sites leave off. This is helpful, as you can make a fair assessment of which is the best price.
