Listening to a baseball game on the radio today and the announcers mentioned a couple of players from Australia. There have been a number of Australian born players in the U.S. major leagues in recent years suggesting the sport is somewhat widespread and developed in Australia. Is Australian amateur baseball something that would get any coverage on national sports TV programming in Oz even in passing?

Zero deal in Australia

 

Approx 20 years ago the Natioanal league almost managed to gather some support , crowds of a few thousand and some TV coverage late at night on the ABC ( Natioanl Broadcaster).

 

Today from a general public perspective baseball occupies no Newspaper Space and No TV coverage and a crowd of 1,000 would be a good turnout.
