Emirates Upgrade Manchester Airport

Recommended Posts

Emirates will replace present morning flight EK21/22 from A330 to B777-300 2 class w.e.f 1.6.12

Further upgrade on 1.9.12 to B777-300ER 3 class with suites. So all three daily flights will have 1st Class. Expect another A380 to be introduced on the evening flight early 2013. Lets see how Qatar and

Etihad respond?

Are you planning to fly in first now that this change has been made? Reading 100's of these posts about .00001% of boardies (and that's generous) fly in business class let alone first so other than changing the plane, it is still a plane with a bunch of coach seats, so what's the value of the info? Are you flying in F on Etihad or Qatar?

Because nobody here will be.

The change in airframe from a 330 to a 77W will make a big difference to Joe Bloggs in economy if he's flying Emirates.

I dont think so, emirates have 10 seats across the width, against the others 9, so widebody makes no difference, in fact according to some frequent flier sites it is in fact worse. Not knocking emirates i fly business with them and I am a gold member but there 10 across configuration sucks.

That's exactly the point I was making. It's 8 across (2-4-2) on their A330s.

The problem of flying Biz from Manchester, is there is there was no chance of an upgrade.

Now there is something to hope for. :D

Yes indeed thats the point ! More first class = more Y tickets at lower prices !

How do you make that out ??

Why does having 1st class lower the cost of economy ??

Surely the introduction of 1st is to increase revenues rather than lowering the cost of Y seats to offset it ??

The line of thinking, and the economics are far from certain on this, is that if an airline can sell lots of full fare F and J seats they can earn enough to subsidize the cost of coach/economy.

Of course the reality is far more complex than this, firstly (and probably primarily) it is competition on the same routes, and then profit maximization.

Believe me, if Emirates or Cathay or Thai can raise prices and compete on routes then you'd be paying triple for an economy seat.

They are not charities so their aim is not to make the same amount per flight by dinging F travellers (eg. me) so Y, Q, R, T, X, etc, pay fifty dollars.

Emirates have today announced that all the Manchester flights will be A380 from1st January 2017.

http://www.thenational.ae/business/aviation/third-a380-to-manchester-sees-emirates-aving-it-large

Some said it would never happen, that they would keep one 773ER on the route for cargo capacity.... Looks like they were wrong!!!

Emirates have proved how good the A380 is for regional markets, Manchester being the perfect illustration. MAN will have the same number of A380 flights as LGW

Looks like Qatar and Etihad will have to up their game to compete with Emirates at Manchester.

To cover the loss of freight capacity expect Emirates to introduce a 4th daily flight with B777-300ER departing around 6.00PM.

Qatar to go fully 3 daily in 2017 with the introduction of A350 on the Doha route. ?

routesonline.com piece on the MAN A380 news

http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/268319/emirates-moves-manchester-to-all-a380-service-from-jan-2017/

Emirates starting January 2017 is moving Dubai – Manchester operation to all-A380 service, as the airline plans to switch EK021/022 service from 3-class 777-300ER to 3-class A380. With this adjustment, the airline will operate 2 daily 3-class and 1 daily 2-class A380 on this route.

EK021 DXB0300 – 0700MAN 388 D
EK017 DXB0720 – 1120MAN 388 D
EK019 DXB1440 – 1840MAN 388 D

EK022 MAN0845 – 1945DXB 388 D
EK018 MAN1310 – 0025+1DXB 388 D
EK020 MAN2035 – 0745+1DXB 388 D

EK019/020 operates with 2-class aircraft.

Will be interesting to see if a 4th daily happens...

My preferred departure time from Manchester is the morning flights, which leads to an early morning arrival in Bangkok, so EK21 changing to A380 means The Fiend is a happy chappy!!!

I didnt think anyone that far North in the UK could afford a ticket to Thailand

Do they still wear clogs and things up there and eat Cowheel Pie ?

I used to live in Saddleworth (Uppermill) and there was always the bloody annoying clog dancers poncing around when we were trying to have a quiet Sunday Pint.

I cant go through the Thai Passport bit in Swampy, my wife has a UK Passport !

They get Morris dancers prancing around down south, fairies with bells on!

I can afford the tickets ex Manchester, but certainly do not have to worry about paying extra for fast Track, it is included.
