There are a number about.

Soi Khaotalo has one Pattaya Klaeng has another. And there is one along Pattaya Nua.

The one on Khaotalo quoted us 12 lessons for 5,000 baht.

It's a thought.... I doubt my insurance is valid for someone without a full licence.

Just read through mine and it appears that there is no exclusion in my policy for learners, or drivers under supervision.

Given the usual reaction of insurance companies iei "any way we can weasle out of paying will do", I wouldn't take the risk.

I'd also make sure that the company teaching her and supplying the vehicle offer a waiver for her responsibility whilst she is under their care and instruction or you could still get stuck with the bill.

As usual, remember ONLY Thai law and customs apply here and not any other countries (regarless of what some may wish).

Cheers :gulp: Admiral Ken

PS Will be looking around for a place for the GF soon so any help appreciated. She tells me there are also driving schools on Pattaya Tai and Jomtien which offer a fixed number of lessons with traing and assistance to get a license. What I liked with one of them was thay also offer an extension of the lessons until they consider the proficiency sufficient to pass. Problem is that passing a license test here doesn't mean they are ever going to be reasonable drivers.

My wife used a school along Threppassit Rd near to the lights with Thappraya, they used their own vehicles and she had about 10 lessons and then went for her test. She passed and got her license the same day as going for the test. I cant remember the price we paid (i think 5000 baht) but it included the test fees etc also. It also included as many re tests as needed to get the pass and license.

If you could locate their number or the name of the place, it sounds like they'd get a lot of new business here.

A mate's Thai wife learned at a school in Naklua. He writes:

For people who know Naklua they will all know the big tree in the middle of the road, The school is about 100 yards short of the tree on the left as you enter Naklua from Pattaya. There is another on South Pattaya road same side as the Friendship Market about 100 yards from the 3rd road lights. Not looked recently but there was one on Klang across from Foodland next door to the hardware store.
