Has anyone arrived over the last few days into Swampy? Can you let us all know about late arrivals due to stacks, runway repairs etc and what was your waiting time at Immigration.

Thanks, Mike

I arrived and left Swampy both in the last two days on route to Doha. The immigration area when departing has been moved up to the mezzanine floor level, where the old sky bar used to be when Swampy first opened. I had access to the premium lane, so did not venture up there but it looked reasonably busy, this was around 18.00 hrs.

About a fifteen minute delay due to the Eastern Runway repair was announced by the pilot when departing, which is basically on-time in aviation terms really.

No problem at all when arriving.

My wife and and son landed on Sunday from LHR and had a 30 minute delay on the runway due to the surface repairs being carried out and thus planes 'backing up'. Immigration not a problem as a Thai national.

I hope this improves next week as myself and daughter follow........can live with a 30 minute delay if needs be though

The new outgoing system is still a bit Micky Mouse IMHO. You go up a floor and then come down again to the original floor. The system has been inverted in that its security first and then passport control. The security was pedantic and for instance the hand held beeper kept on going off and all I had in my pocket was some bank notes. Go figure! Seems that you may as well get there and just go through because everyone was taking off shoes, belts, jackets and getting lap tops out so it could at times be a lengthy procedure.

Coming in by comparison was a breeze.

When I arrived recently, about 6pm, we were stacked up for over 1/2 hour waiting to land. Reported to be busy, but it didn't look like it when we eventually landed. Immigration was light and quick (I used fast track but there were few people at the regular queues), but the wait for luggage was longer than normal at 20 minutes.

I departed Swampy at 2330 on July 2, returned at 2350 on July 9. The flights were delayed during take-off and landing at BKK, about 30 minutes each time. The pilots on both flights attributed the delays to runway work.

No hassle with Immigration leaving Thailand (not one other passenger waiting when I walked up to the check point), but the feeder snake was very jammed on arrival. I burned one of my Premium Lane cards and went through in two minutes.

Arrived swampy tonight 09/09/12 from Doha at 19.00hrs, although I had a few fast track cards saved up, I ventured into the first immigration hall I came to, about half the desks were manned, I was directed to a booth with one person in front of me, so through in less than five minutes.

Suitcases arrive about ten minutes later, then out into the night and on my way, fail to see how Swampy could improve on this. Well done long may it continue. just my update for arrivals.

That is good.... did you come straight in to land?

Some discussion I heard recently suggested the runway condition may upset things again.

Yes no delay on approach, that I noticed anyway.

Hopefully not more runway closures/ repairs, what did you hear ?

When I left in August they had already finished the repairs on the closed runway so they should all be open unless a repair could last only a month. Of course, TIT.

Something about one end of one of the runways subsiding again, necessitating an upcoming new round of repairs (& sgl runway ops)??

There you go when they use old tires and peat moss it droops somewhere else as a result.

It is amazing that pretty basic construction of a reinforced concrete slab cannot be figured out.
