I had an e-mail from Eva Airways today saying that I could get £15 off my next flight, I thought £15 is not much, but better than a kick in the nuts. :llaugh

Then lower down the offer it says " for flights between 18th and 31st August"

They are not giving much away are they?

Probably indicative of how low and near to the non-profit line the economy prices are with the competative airlines are at the moment, especially if they feel the need to start cutting biz class rates, which subsidise the cattle class rates to some extent.

Without doubt the Taxes and Airport charges are a big slice of the ticket price these days, it is very difficult to actually work out whats what because each airline seems to work things out differently.

Have you ever noticed that with flights to Thailand with the middle east airlines, taxes and charges can actually be lower than direct flights even though there is an additional airport handling charge.

For my November flight (6 weeks) I can get Eva for £624 or Qatar are about £90/100 cheaper, I have always flown Eva and love a direct flight, Qatar have a good reputation but I don't know if I can be bothered changing planes and transiting another airport half way through my journey to the promised land. Also the Qatar journey would be around 3 hours longer each way, I will probably book BR.

Just took a look at my Qatar ticket to Manchester. The fare was 68500 baht.... what they categorise as 'taxes and Carrier-imposed Fees' another 22,010.00 THB A third on top.

With the current oil price, and the way the air ticket has been a source of unlimited taxes and charges by goody goody green governments.... and then the added satisfaction of asking more from those who prefer not to be treated like a sardine and have the effrontery to pay more for a bit of comfort, I wonder how they are filling up the planes.
