Vietnamese Restaurants

Recommended Posts

Gabor's recent post about beef soup set me thinking that I've not heard any recommendations for a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Pattaya. Are there any that BMs can recommend? I remember there was on on Soi 3, but it was pretty crap as SE Asian restaurants go.

I would sure like to try some Vietnamese restaurants in Pattaya. I really like some of the dishes served here in the USA but I have no frame of reference to determine how "Americanized" they are.

Vinegar salad and hot pots are my favorites.

There is one in Central never tried it though,,,,

Tried it once. I'm used to better back in Canada. (huge Viet population where I am.)

My Thai girl thought it was fine but she had never tried Viet before.

Forget about the food courts, most of the time it's barely passable as food. There are exceptions but usually it's tasteless.

I noticed a Vietnamese place on 3rd road a little bit past Pattaya Klang, about 300 meters, when going North on the left hand side. It's right across the street from the carwash.

I haven't been yet but it is on my list of places to try.

I stopped at the place and looked at the menu... more thai-vietnamese leaning towards thai...

There is a resturant (Le Saigon) at the top of a hotel just off of Phrataminak Rd... Dang, can't remember the name... It was ok for Vietnamese in Thailand...

I have heard that Vientiane has a Vietnamese selection... Haven't tried that yet...

Although I do like the Vientane, IMHO the Vietnamese dishes were not really authentic at all, more of a Thai/Laos take on the dishes.

I'm pretty sure that's because it's named after the capital city in Laos and has nothing to do with Vietnam.

They do itemise the dishes as Vietnamese, and have a seperate Laos section on their menu. (See Door-2-Door menu). I've tried the Banh Xeo, Cha Ca and Noodles none of which were very authentic, and the Cha Ca was chicken, whereas I have only found Fish version elsewhere!
