A couple of weeks ago, I just happened to be walking by along the beach, as they were attempting to destroy the Dolphin monument to make way for the new and "improved" Beach Road.

Picked up my first every freelancer from this area nearly 10 years ago, so will remember it with a fond memory.

and they call that progress?..

....IMHO...widening Beach Road is creating an additional hazard for pedestrians and ruining the ambiance of Beach Road and the promenade.

The City officials should have looked at ways of limiting vehicle traffic on Beach Road instead of ruining one of the main scenic attractions of the City

You captured a bit of history there, well done. What about the Buddhist shrine that's there? Gone too?

Thanks Pap. Yes, the Buddhist shrine has gone as well.

erosion of the beach is just going to undermine any widening of lanes on Beach Road anyway...this will create a state of constant repair to the road with the lane closest to the ocean experiencing major cave ins of pavement.

one of the most short sighted temporary fixes in Pattaya history.

The prom needed updating/repairing imho but widening the road is a waste of fucking time and like you say, making the prom narrower is also making it more dangerous for pedestrians unless they're going to install an Arnco barrier the length of Beach Road.

They should have just banned all private cars from BR. Let the Baht Buses and motorbikes on and also service vehicles that need access.

The pavement on the East side of BR needs widening and updating more than the Promenade.
