Western food recipes for Thais

Recommended Posts

I've used Google (with no success) to find any books in Thai that describe western cooking, along with some recipes.

By western cooking...I mean simple to complex dishes that are not Thai.

You can find thousands of books on Thai recipes.

Do Thais have something similar?

Getting tired of grilled steak, salmon, pork chops, etc with French fries etc.

She cannot read english then????

Would be a good idea to get my partner to write one, never thought of this before. She is a brilliant cook too.

There might be a market for it...at least one buyer already identified :P.

No, her English is mostly verbal...she can puzzle out English written word, but gets it wrong much of the time..similar to my Thai skills.

Cannot see anything on piratebay neither

I'm thinking that it might be difficult to find a book written in Thai, for Thais, using English search terms.

Maybe if your livein were to form the search query in Thai, she could find something.

Have her look for the Thai version of "western cooking recipes" or specific styles "english cooking recipes" or something like that...of course, the English cooking would be useless to me. I can't eat that stuff :P

I found a whole shelf of them at the ground floor tuk.com book store. Ended up buying one.

OK... now you're hitting on one of my passions... good home-cooked food.

The best book that I have found is "Easy Italian Cooking", put out by Amarinpocketbook http://www.amarinpocketbook.com/news/game1005/Default.aspx Scroll down to the last grouping to see a picture. I found it in the large bookstore on the 4th floor of Central Festival (sorry can't remember the store's name). Great for Lasagna, pizzas, pasta... just don't be surprised when she puts thai peppers in the sauce to "improve" the flavor.

But for a much better experience I would suggest using Youtube. I have video bookmarks for all of my favorite dishes. But here are the two best channels I have found for sharing with your Thai lady:

And this one has a TON of suggestions that cover all kinds of foods... but sadly, no English... so it's more like a treasure hunt:

This should keep you busy...
