Had mine in America. Very short and painless doctor visit, over before I knew it. Then the local wore off, and I wasn't as cheerful about it.

I don't remember the recovery time.not too long.

As for Thailand, you can get one free by cheating on a jealous girlfriend :P

No, I don't know the cost.

My recovery time was maybe two or three days at most.

Make sure you get tested after the time specified or the number of ejaculations (which in Pattaya should be about 3 days worth).

Tell a TGF she has to help you collect the samples and you need two or three per sample vial.

You only need one but they don't need to know that. And they don't need to know one test is enough.

My ex did not know either.

Vasectomy means never having to say you're sorry.

Don't know about the cost as I had mine about 25 years ago, I do remember it was absolutely painless, took about 20 minutes and there was a slight feeling of discomfort for 2-3 days afterwards, nothing worth bothering about.

Highly recommended if you're sure you don't want to father any more kids.

Oh, and it doesn't affect your libido or potency in the slightest, age does that.

My experience from 25 years ago is similar to those above. Procedure itself is outpatient and painless, but with a day walking bow-legged and 2-3 days of soreness relieved with ice packs. Medically, they informed me a 10% reduction in ejaculation volume so probably best to get your shooting distance records before getting the procedure and then compare afterwards :).

A significant peace of mind knowing there's no swimmers in your fluids, but if desired some procedures can be reversed or you can freeze a few swimmers for future release.

In the USA health insurance companies paid 100% as it reduces their future liabilities. Since it's a 20 minute outpatient procedure I can't imagine Thai clinics charging too much, but haven't queried local costs.

Highly recommended with no regrets as grand kids will be easier :).

Worth a read:

http://www.living-thailand.com/2013/01/29/vasectomy-in-thailand/

Dated Jan. of this year, cost estm. 5000 baht in gov't hospital, 17,000 in private... 30 minute procedure, 3 day recovery, 3 months followup.

Been thinking about this myself for a while now. Would like to hear of some local, recent, experiences with recommendations.

Get an EMLA patch from a pharmacy or the doctor and put it on your sack a couple hours before the procedure.

SOP here and it numbs a lot before the needle.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Never felt the op and post op wasn't too bad but the injection in the nuts was hell !!!

My US doctor advised me to have it done on a Friday after work. He said that by Monday I should feel fine. I had it done on Friday and the next day, Saturday, my boss called me and ordered me to go to work. I did and it was very uncomfortable. By Monday I was fine.

I don't remember any problem in resuming boomboom right away.

You've reminded me of the time I asked a gynaecologist friend of mine when it was ok to resume sex after your wife had given birth. His reply:

"Gentlemen wait until the afterbirth has been delivered."

Cracked me up, that one.

Given time an EMLA patch will numb you from your nutsack to your belly button and nearly as far as your knees. It is a transdermal patch with the anesthetic that a dentist injects, not the stuff in an over the counter cream like for bug bites. Mainly used to make the skin numb prior to the needle which goes into your ballsack farther than you'd think but more crampy than pure pain like you got kicked. Way less I think than a needle without the EMLA. After that you feel nothing with the patch and needle combo.

He'd prescribe one Valium to be taken on rising as well (Xanax or Ativan would actually work better and wear off sooner but better than nothing) , mostly to keep from having to go down to the sidewalk and drag 1/2 the patients to the office each day.

I was OK really same day with some ice. Never did use bagged frozen vegetables mainly as once thawed I did not want to eat a kilo of peas.

Two tests after one 6 months, one a year, two labs, zero sperm. Not one. The urologist at the clinic I went to had done more than 50,000 and not one do-over.

The places I used to travel a lot (still do a bit) girls there had lots of kids and like to trap the guy with a kid and lie about using contraceptives. Of course they are all single parents with two or three kids each with a different father. I am too old to have more kids hence the surgery, as much insurance as anything else. That and a proper STD screen also eliminates the need for rubbers. Proper being the operative word, which is not rapid HIV tests.
